You know what, based on my personal experiences and observation:
1. I consider myself as a good guy. Dressed up nicely with tie and suit during the day, and have gentleman manner (seriously). But, since I often dress up somewhat funky, daring, or tough-looking, with spiky hairstyle, bandana etc. during clubbing or hangouts in weekends, girls find it more often than not seemingly more attractive and alluring. I've been told that many times by many girlfriends. So, dress up, young guns! And be confident.
I can share some tips on getting ur girl - in a proper and gentleman way
U gotta be sincere, tho!
2. Although girls may not necessarily look for 'bad guys' for future life partner, but as casual hang-out buddy(s), they usually go for those types - looking for wild and more liberated attitudes.
3. Believe it or not, men also do find 'naughty' girls or women somewhat more attractive than the regular, casual, conservative kind of gals. Unless they truly are looking for female partners with motherly and homy characters. Calming. But not daring.

I guess bad guys give a higher amount of protection for the girls through their strength whereas for the nice guy give lesser protection. Perhaps girls nowadays want to have Superheros kind of guy?

My theory on why girls prefer so-called bad guys
"Bad Guy" - at least makes some effort to be interesting to girls and has the balls to ask them out and are able to deal with rejection.
"Nice Guy" - boring doormats who are too ballsless and thin-skinned. -
