It cost more than $3k from the time you get pregnant till give birth and also after give birth, need to follow up (baby checkup) injections, etc.., all is money. -

No, the Government wants more Singaporeans to give birth.
A lot of people are holding back because of cost
So if they are going to just give $3000, I don’t think that will cause those holding back to give birth at all.
These days people no longer give birth because they want kids.
They consider a lot of other factors.
And I tend to agree that the higher educated you are, the less likely you want to have kids.
At least that is the trend I see amongst my friends; those who finish school early have like 4 kids now.
Those with a degree or more have only 1 child or none at all (me inclusive)

I feel that Chinese are very practical people. They would rather ensure their offsprings are able to lead a life where they need not worry about everything. With the rising costs, would they want to subject their children to the harsh realities? This is what I as a Chinese feel la.
And my Malay friend once told me, in their holy book, they do not encourage the use of contraception and also discourage abortion, that might be where the larger family come about.
Indian, I don't know. So far all the Indian family I know are half half. Some are single, some no children, some got 2 or 3 kids. Hard to say.

The old heck who implemented this policy did admit that was a mistake but NEVER OFFER ANY APOLOGY TO THE PEOPLE. till now those affected (penalized) still remember how bad this policy was. -

Basically, I think as responsible human, if 2 get married, they should at least give birth to 2 children so that at least can sustain our human domination in this world, even ants are protecting all their might to perserve their eggs and we here are reluctant to give birth, more so if you are married, i heard that after married many years with no children, the couple relation start to strain, and also hor, childrens also provide happiness to the family, one of my workers said, work hard is ok, when go back, see childrens very happy.
