THE Singapore Democratic Party's Holland Bukit Timah team had said in a hand-written note put up on the Greenridge Secondary nomination centre notice board that People's Action Party candidate Sim Ann is still in the civil service. They said she had 'identified herself as 'unemployed', adding that this was a 'misrepresentation'.
The whole SDP team had signed the note, and asked the Returning Officer to declare her candidacy 'null and void'.
However, the Returning Officer at the centre said he has considered both of SDP's objections and has decided to overrule them.
The objection was put up just before the 12.30pm deadline for objections.
SDP's Holland-Bukit Timah candidate Vincent Wijeysingha told The Straits Times that the SDP was not given any reasons why their objections were overruled.
Ms Sim, 36, was with the civil service for the last 12 years, working in several ministries.
She began volunteering at the grassroots level in 2002 and became a member of the Bukit Timah Citizens' Consultative Committee in 2003.

Well, as much as people aren't really fond of the incumbent party, I think its kinda awful that they are being jeered at. Can imagine yourself giving a thank you speech only to get jeered at, horrible feeling.

Other countries will stage mass protest to topple regime, they won't jeer.

Which probably explains why the regime ranks where it does for human development, press freedom and human rights.
If silent consent was the order of the day, the divisive nature of even having an opposition should be rendered obscene. After all, is North Korea not ruled by a leader who "enjoys" unanimous support?

funny thing is
u sure there's total supression?
if really tat's e case, then my suggestions onto public tpt improvement would have never been taken and implemented

You can never have absolute totality, can you? If you believe what the North Korean government churns out, there isn't even any suppression - it enjoys the utopian state of affairs it does primarily because it's acting in the interests of the citizenry (with unanimous support). Hence, since no foreign entities can independently verify these claims, are you therefore dismissing them as wildly speculative?
With regards to your point, what makes you think your suggestions are implemented squarely because they have been proposed exclusively by you?
Not submit on time, form not properly filled up...all those crap should prepared and double check long ago. Yet, they can make this kind of mistake.
