this promises to raise eyebrows and bring the excitement of this year's GE up another level!!! :)
cool !!!
I keep saying potong pasir will go back PAP, after today, I think hougang will go back with it.
sacrifice these two to win GRCs.
Hero SMCs these two constituencies... all these years...
One for all, all for one. =)
hoot ar!!!
Look at how near it is .....if Hougang is secured by WP and Aljunied by WP ...they can control the town councils . It is a tactical choice and a good one. WP candidates for Aljunied are the best candidates. Low Thia Kang is going for all or none.
It is a bid to make some of the sheep wake up and vote correctly for an alternate voice in Singapore.
That or some of you sheep prefer to pay the ministers millions while I see the US president (who makes much less) carrying out more reforms with effect than ...well than mosquito breeding stagnant pool .
It is a gamble and will be a close fight.
They go all out. Only hae one mission on mind. Busted or Win.
ya lor...theres the possibility of a PAP clean sweep if the risk dont pay off albeit a lower overall percentage of votes for PAP...
i think whatever "strategy" all the parties have, including the MIW, are machiavellian at best...
the correct but slow and long-term strategy is to have people live within each ward or constituency work for the people, walk and talk to the people, be with them, be seen, help the people, try to solve their problems... and after many years, maybe even up to a decade later, when the people in the constituency know and trust these people, it is time to take the next step and serve them in parliament...
instead of musical chairs, bullshit and "i move constituency to stand this side now because i will try to win this other constituency" or "i come to replace the guy who dropped out by abandoning my secure constituency to help win the next"
screw that.. it's now all about winning and not about serving the people...
for that, i reiterate my stand that ALL politicians are scumbags

Too bad we have to choose a lesser evil.
Politicians are like underwears, please change often.

Why not? WP left a guy in Hougang which is known to those in Hougang. It is not musical chairs. Their purpose is to create a larger opposition voice and that's the risk they are taking - do you think it's seriously about winning?
Opposition party are only risking their necks if they don't win. They want to serve and they want a voice. 2 or 3 voices in the sea of MIW MPs...can't be loud enough to serve the public interest or oppose policies which not be too great.
That's unless you want to be screwed as a common person for the next five years since you want to feed a 'mandate'.
I dunno
WP's first world parliament goes up to second voice.
Sometimes thing is, I want someone who's a pioneer as well.

it is a form of musical chairs because he left the people he was supposed to serve to hope to "gain" a GRC...
whatever happened to the people? they're not part of the equation anymore? or are they a statistic for them too? they're then cut from the same cloth of the MIW then...
here in my GRC, i'm stuck..
i don't know who i hate more.. the RP or the MIW...
it is sad to have to vote according to which bunch of *&$%#^ i find less despicable... the bunch of asses from the MIW who are part of the problem, or the musical chairs idiots in the RP who had to "borrow" people from other parties who will probably be the source of a bunch of new problems...

What is actually the "First World Parliament" means?
Is it all mps stayed at home and virtual live parliament screen at their living room? And virtual live person standing in the middle of their living room speech?

The situation is not ideal, but I always believe the good WP candidates need company in Parliament if they want to stand a chance.
They need support from other opposition party in the parliament. If not, even when they raised any public issues, it will be drown by all the paps.
Personally, I dont believe those parliament debate. All reading from the script.

Well, at least you are given a choice to which drug you can take to commit suicide. Compared to the people of Tanjong Pagar GRC, who had another 5 years of wait before prescribing their own drugs.
Imagine being force-fed the same drugs until you die, without a choice. That is a pain, some of them must bear.

Are you in those constituencies affected by that 'musical chairs'? You are in a GRC not an SMC. Unless you stayed in those SMCs for long, I don't think you are qualified to make a judgement on who is standing there as a replacement.
My view is that Lina Chiam is probably known around as Chiam See Tong's wife around Potong Pasir (from my friend living there). Better old Chiam join a GRC team - he still has his leftover effects of stroke and he needs a team to run while he guides them. Lina Chiam will be a person capable of running an SMC on her own.
Low Thia Kang left his colleague there in Hougang . From what I heard , my friend in Hougang told me that they know who that guy is and they are familiar with his face due to grassroots work done by WP in Hougang.
From friends in Hougang and Potong Pasir, at least some know that they are looked after by SOMEONE they know in grassroots. Not some nitwit kate spade bag wielding ditzy youngster resting comfortably within the shadow of an old face.
At least WP is fielding the best candidates in their lot in Aljunied GRC , NONE of their candidates can be said as without substance ...unlike Kate Spade I-think-medical-fees-are-affordable-and-I-don't-know-what-to-say candidate-OR-I-will-repeat-what-PAPa-says-for-15k-per-month who is part of a team led by a respectable politician.
If you need to know who that ditzy youngster with PAPa is , please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0jzvLn2NeA
Then re-evaluate who is in the opposition team in Aljunied GRC against that in Marina GRC....and get back to me about the respect shown for the constituents of both GRCs.
First world Parliament...Copycat from Malaysia last time 2004 election dunno which party.
This Chen Show Mao really has substance.
I am very impressed by his performance in his first rally speech.
Please look at his speech and give some feedback.

I know some of the "borrowed" and they are not despicable at all. That's all I can say on this.
