IT MAY not be prepared to take over by the May 7 polls, but the opposition could form an alternative government by the next election, said opposition veteran Chiam See Tong on Saturday morning.
He was responding to challenges made by the People's Action Party on the readiness of the opposition to form government.
'If the people want an alternative government, the opposition shall give it to them,' he said to reporters at a walkabout in Toa Payoh.
And he stressed that any transition of power will be done smoothly and will not shake Singapore's stability.
Mr Chiam is leading a Singapore People's Party team which will contest Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.
"...could form an alternative government by the next election." I doubt sooooooo
It'll still take two or 3 more elections before the opposition/alternative government could be form.
