Because our votes have power, that is why PAP is so scared of Singaporeans during election, but when election is over, Singaporeans are scared of PAP.

Watched the news, there are so many welcoming the loon Lee Hsien Loong and other PAP ministers to their areas. Saw aunties and .....Well, we can't change the situation that they win we will suffer even more, so be prepared to be screwed deep deep and further and further. There is no way to get them out to continue to form a government as most of the hopeless Singaporeans are hopelessly gutless ks to vote for a change. I hate these people for they bring suffering to us.

it wont cause them to lose power, but they will see it as a protest vote against their policies. if they continue at this rate, the next election in 2016, they may lose more than a few single seats and GRCs, but not necessarily to the extent of unable to form government.
they may react by importing voters. i think this election is the last one they will be in danger of losing.
PRCs are really model immigrants for them. not politically interested, used to crowded conditions, willing to work for low pay, used to much lower pay previously, being exposed to good things after coming from a village.

that is called exploitation. China is not exactly a third world country, is on its way to rival US in terms of economic might and militarily. no wonder Spore does not have legislation on minimum wages.

They are assuming the PRC they import will becoming citizens and not uproot after one generation when they realize their children will get the short end of the stick on the policies.
My take on it? It's a stopgap but not a long-term solution. If you can't take care of your own people how are you going to convince outsides to become your own people?
Also if the kind you are attracting are those out to make a quick buck from superliberal immigration policies do you think they have the kind of mindset to stay? Also the same issues that affect us will eventually affect them as the advantages of being a recent import start to wear off.
They are not going to have large families or follow the "three or more if you can afford it" slogan, and they are going to find themselves and their children competing against more recent imports that will be favoured more then them.
So no, they are not silly... they are here when the going is good but I'd like to see what the ruling party will do when they realize they can't sustain these good times for them.
