MM Lee: Voters made the right choice in past elections

SINGAPORE would not be what it is today if Singaporeans had made different choices in past elections, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said on Saturday night.
In a speech at the Tanjong Pagar GRC Family Day celebrations, he said: 'Every GE is a choice about whether we want to move forwards, sideways or backwards.'
Switching to Mandarin, he added: 'Over the last 12, 13 elections, if Singaporeans had chosen wrongly, we wouldn't have the Singapore of today.'
He also said he wanted to remind Singaporeans that 'the Singapore you see - safe, with good schools, good traffic - is because voters chose a Government that was competent and reliable.'
'I hope this election, voters will similarly make the right choice.'
In his speech, MM Lee also weighed in on the continuing need to bring in foreign workers and talent from abroad so that Singapore could take on the world-wide competition for growth and progress.
Addressing Singaporeans' concerns over the influx of foreigners who they fear are threatening their jobs, he said that Singapore needs 900,000 foreign workers on two-year work permits.
'They do the construction and other heavy work, jobs Singaporeans are not willing to do,' he said.

I think on hindsight, those who've voted for PAP in 2006 regret it now. And why is it these pappies keeping reiterating that we don't welcome foreign workers like construction workers?
I thought it's about filipinos, chinamen and indian ah nehs taking the jobs of educated PMETs? Somebody pls put a dent into his stubborness.

e PAP makes every normal Singkie to go thru a rat race today heck care their indv adaptability profile (slow or fast learner) w/ more foreign students in e schools or uni. While e top scholars gets to go overseas n study in a more liberal env...

Lee Kuan Yew is more quiet in this year's elections, probably due to the current protests in the middle east where people are trying to get rid of dictators who have been in power for 30-40 years.
Lee Kuan Yew himself in power for over 50 years.
If he insists on contesting elections after 50 years in power, people have the right to attack him.

Lee Kuan Yew should not be so shameless and still hold on to power after 50 years.
He should step down.
If Lee Kuan Yew is willing to step down and not contest in this year's elections, I am willing to cast spoiled vote and not vote for opposition.

Why is the old fart still running when the fascists are harping about leadership renewal? Does the renewal extend to the realms of the afterlife? Oops, I must have forgotten he must die a MP to qualify for the ethereal honour of being conferred the title of EM (Eternal Minister). That way, this regime can then boast of being the second on the planet to have the state being officially governed by a dead man after Eternal President Kim Il Sung.

As long as he get his million dollar pension and salary, the decision cannot be wrong.
No one listen to the crap that are being sprouted from him and Mr Peanut as we know that he is more concerned about the welfare of his clan and his croonies.
Without knowing the ground, he still believe that we need so much construction workers.

We have been fooled for the past 10 years.
Are we going to be fooled for another 4 years and to be told that we need to work till we die, to be cheaper, better and faster, to endure flood in orchard road and get petty hundred dollars when we retire ?
While the whole clan are enjoying the good life of travelling around the world on our expenses with no results delivered, sent their kids to oversea on scholarship and putting all the blame on us if their policy failed.
