SINGAPORE: The opposition National Solidarity Party (NSP) has unveiled its manifesto for the General Election.
Among
its proposals, the party said the government should sell new HDB flats
to first-time buyers at "cost-plus" instead of pegging prices to market
rates.
"Cost-plus" means a discount will be given to first-time
buyers of new HDB flats so that they pay slightly above the cost of
building the flat plus a discounted land price.
The NSP also called for an alternative economic growth model that focuses on wage growth rather than GDP growth.
The party added it is not against foreign labour but would like to see the pace of its growth moderated.
It called for the reduction of mid-skilled foreign workforce such as entry-level graduates, diploma holders and technicians.
The party also called for employment priority to be given to Singaporeans.
The NSP also wanted to see restrictions imposed on permanent residents selling their flats so as to curb speculation.
