SINGAPORE: The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) on Thursday introduced six of its 11 candidates for the May 7 General Election.
They are:
academic Dr James Gomez;
social psychologist Mr John Tan;
civil society activist Dr Vincent Wijeysingha;
young entrepreneur Mr Jarrod Luo who is the secretary of the party's youth wing, the Young Democrats;
former
civil servant turned teacher Ms Michelle Lee. Ms Lee, who had worked at
the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), now teaches a group of
underprivileged children in the Holland area; and
former Internal Security Act detainee turned author Teo Soh Lung.
SDP secretary-general Dr Chee Soon Juan however would not reveal where the six will be fielded.
But
the party confirmed that it will contest Sembawang and Holland-Bukit
Timah GRCs as well as single-member constituencies of Bukit Panjang and
Yuhua.

wonder if Gomez will "forget" to file the nomination papers again

I don't know what to say.
Did he even collect the papers today?
maybe this time, his higher masters will let him file the papers, seeing the SDP doesn't have a snowball in hell's chance as long as CSJ is around
SDP has changed quite a bit recently. There will be more votes for SDP if CSJ does not resort to his "gila" ways in the coming election.

That's all?
shows you the progress CSJ has made since that dagger was stuck in the back of CST
That's karma.

SDP unveils second batch of candidatesBy Tessa Wong and Zakir HussainTHE Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) rolled out its second batch of five candidates on Friday afternoon, bringing its line-up for the coming polls to 11 so far.
They are:
- Mr Tan Jee Say, 57, a private investor and former principal private secretary to Mr Goh Chok Tong (1985-1990)
- Dr Ang Yong Guan, 55, a psychiatrist and former army colonel
- Mr Mohd Isa Abdul Aziz, a business development manager and former civil servant
- Mr Sadasivan Veriyah, a former teacher and grassroots leader
- Mr Gerald Sng, 45, a marketing manager
The latest batch was rolled out a day after SDP unveiled its first slate of six candidates on Thursday.
Many of the new faces come with notable credentials, marking what political watchers see as a resurrection for a party that was close to dissolution just a few years ago, and may improve its fortunes at the coming elections.
SDP fared the worst among all other parties at the last election, polling 23.2 per cent of valid votes nationally.
The party has confirmed that it will contest in Sembawang GRC, as it did at the 2006 election.

THE Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) is set to field its high-calibre candidates in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, The Straits Times understands.
The party may bank on the middle-class appeal of establishment men Tan Jee Say and Ang Yong Guan, social worker Vincent Wijeysingha and teacher Michelle Lee, to woo voters there. Around a third of residents in Holland-Bukit Timah live in private property, higher than the national average of 20 per cent.
The quartet is expected to put up a stiff fight against People's Action Party (PAP) incumbents there: Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan; first-term MPs Liang Eng Hwa and Christopher de Souza, and newcomer Sim Ann.
Yuhua SMC is easy

This is also Vivian's first elections facing opposition.
Previously all walkovers.
There are a lot of PAP connections in bukit timah. Someone's wife is the sister of an MP or someone there is the ex classmate of some MP's wife etc etc. Might be difficult for SDP but I applaud their spirited endeavour!
Most rich are supporting the PAP.

CSJ has learnt his lesson. SDP will do better with CSJ out of the way. Matter of time the big guns will tell CSJ to fade away for the good of SDP.
one fired something wrongly
Govt scholar said we dun need a the manufacturing industry...
We can't be totally dependent on services sector either

Compared to all these, CSJ is an is an arsehole who only appeal to yokels (see his speech in Hokkien in YouTube).
His usefullness for the time being is to garner the vote of the trolls.
After the elections, his fate depends on the success of the new team.
If they are successful, CSJ has to go. If they are not, they will leave, and CSJ can have SDP all to himself again to delude himself as Mandela and Ghandhi.
