SINGAPORE: Staff and
students of the nine schools being used as nomination centres next
Wednesday (27 April) will be given a day off.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) says "there will be no school activity" at these schools on that day.
They
are: Admiralty Secondary School, Bedok View Secondary School, Deyi
Secondary School, Dunman Secondary School, Greenridge Secondary School,
the Singapore Chinese Girl's School, South View Primary School, Tao Nan
School and Jurong Junior College.
And there's more good news for all schools.
As
a result of Polling Day on Saturday, 7 May being declared a public
holiday, the following Monday (9 May) will be a school holiday for all
teaching staff and pupils.
Two universities are also rescheduling their examinations because of Polling Day.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) says it has arranged for examinations to be pushed back a day.
A spokesperson says all 239 students affected have been informed of the change.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is also in the midst of reviewing its exam dates.
Its
chief planning officer, Mr Chan Kwong Lok, said: "We will notify the
students soon via email. They can also check their exam schedules at the
NTU website."

I'm more concerned with the polling centre's rules. Will queueing take hours?
Will we experience being denied drinking water while in queue, or go without adequate ventilation while being watched by the riot police?
And most of all, will there be last time's nonsense like shouting out IC numbers or writing it on the ballot slip? If it happens, can we complain to the police?
Dude, there will be a queue, but the queue will move faster than the one at NTUC fairprice. You won't have to queue in the sun, if you need a drink, there will be a drink. Your first time at the polls?
