GE: PAP Chairman Lim Boon Heng to retire

SINGAPORE: Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Boon Heng has announced he would be retiring from politics.
Mr Lim, who is also Chairman of the People's Action Party and MP for Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC), said this on Sunday at a constituency event.
He said Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and current MP for Jurong GRC will helm the team.

yeh that's true. Lim Boon Heng quitting just before elections. Why? If he stands for elections as an MP, he cant be president. So quit at a high profile time just before elections.
Tan Kin Lian come and give a good fight!! We don't want another 10 years of stale prata.

Mr Lim said: "A bit of gardening, you know, planting some orchids in my garden and things which I have long neglected. I used to work on a farm, but lost my green touch. So I hope that some of the hobbies I enjoy doing I will be able to do, and therefore in that sense, spend a bit more time with my family." -

His displeasure with tpl as candidate might be the reason he was axed.
SINGAPORE: People's Action Party's (PAP) Chairman Lim Boon Heng said the party is close to deciding whether the younger candidates it has been testing out will fit the bill in all the Group Representation Constituencies (GRC) and in particular, Jurong GRC which he currently helms.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the PAP Community Foundation in Jurong GRC, Mr Lim said he does not rule out surprises on Nomination Day, if necessary.

after reading his life story, I cannot but admire his most basic political tenet:
"If what you know is true, stick by it, persist, never mind the criticism, and work towards understanding and acceptance."

I have seen LBH in church before, not arrogant, will offer a ready smile. Looks like a decent down to earth chap. But then again, never trust freaking politicians.

BUT lim bh FAILED 2 make any effort 2 make sure all these job go 2 SINKAPOLIANS !!
(probably 10% sinkapolians).
i was told recently by a mbs employee, "in her dept, 12 people in her grp. She herself IS D ONLY SINKAPOLIAN.
