SENIOR Minister Goh Chok Tong has gotten his wish of having a strong candidate to understudy and succeed him in helming the Marine Parade GRC team one day.
In a post on the Marine Parade PAP branch's Facebook page on Tuesday, MParader, SM Goh said that the People's Action Party team will usher in one of the two former military top brass - outgoing army chief Major-General Chan Chun Sing, 41, and Brigadier-General Tan Chuan Jin, 42, as a new candidate in Marine Parade GRC.
He also confirmed that fellow MP Dr Ong Seh Hong will be retiring from politics.
The post read: 'The good-hearted doctor is selflessly stepping down from Ubi for one of the two generals to understudy me.'
The Straits Times, quoting party sources, had earlier reported that the likely new candidate is BG Tan and he will be introduced to residents this weekend.
In a Facebook post last Saturday, SM Goh wrote that he had asked Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to send him a 'strong candidate who has the potential to be part of the fourth-generation core team.'
wah he aiming for the VSM position already right?
Is SAF training generals for the country or MIW?
There's nothing wrong with him entering into politics.

He will be reared as a PAP lackey.

We should ask God for wisdom to vote in the upcoming GE.
Doesnt matter whether he is general or not.
What matter most is whether he can serve the pple and understand the pple or not.

Apparently, strong was misinterpreted.
The generals were sent because they are masters of strong-arm tactics.
some generals are good....some are like lame ducks.best is to get those practical generals that have outstanding accomplishment in the organisation he was in.dont nget those slave master types with not much or negligible accomplishments.
no outstanding or so so accomplishment generals = no commitment generals
no commitment generals = no accomplishment or so so singapore

Some is the keyword.
I dare say most generals may not understand the livelihood of average Singaporeans.

In the army, he is the one giving orders and expects everybody to obey.
You think it will any different when he goes into civilian/political life?
ask him if he can cook lame duck soup...
...bet that would be his strongest tactic.

Politics pays more.
u got a guy.
he hasnt done much in army other than playing something close to computer games.
he hasnt gone for any gulf wars or any missions.
he hasnt fought n planned any missions in hot spots.
he hasnt taken part in any missions
he hasnt seen much.
what have u got now when he suddenly goes from military to civilian side where things arent as great as the military?
if he wanted to be in the civilian or even in the military he should have done more serious stuff and at least taken some initiatives to be a real military person.
im not sure he is the man for the job.he should be in some GLC like SIA or PUB or perhaps the UN.
