THE People's Action Party (PAP) chairman Lim Boon Heng said on Monday that a key issue that the party will fight the coming election on is the kind of future Singaporeans want for themselves and their children.
'Given the environment surrounding Singapore and the competition it faces, what kind of future do we want?' he said at the unveiling of the party's third batch of candidates at the PAP headquarters on Monday afternoon.
Responding to reporters' questions on the PAP's manifesto for the coming election, he said it would be released 'in due course'.
In the 2006 election, the manifesto was released on April 15, three weeks before polling day on May 6.
The latest new faces include the first Malay-Muslim candidate and the youngest PAP candidate among the total of nine introduced so far.
The trio are Mr Zainal Sapari, 46, an educator; Ms Tin Pei Ling, 28, an Ernst & Young consultant; and Mr Gan Thiam Poh, 48, a banker with DBS.

I wonder, besides now having to pay Ministers not to be corrupt ('Singapore ministers set for million-dollar pay hike'), do we still also have to maintain our dear PM's sanity by keeping away from him, any possible opposition politicians in parliament (i.e. restrict the number of opposition members in parliament to 9 or less) as he so insists?
Will demands upon citizens to accept the PAP's free-reign to contravene statutory/ constitutional rules- 'Town Council Act (CAP 329A) states clearly that Govt must work with Town Councils (run by MPs) to implement LUP', the blatant misappropriation of public funds- ('How PAP uses taxpayer-funded grassroots for political gain', 'Upgrading should be a separate issue from the General Election'), the imposition of double standards on the conduct of the civil service '‘Adviser over MP’ raises many questions'[alt link] ever be relieved/ justified?
There can only be one reason for this degenerate state of moral political leadership-- the unbridled urge to financially profit at all cost.
Singaporeans are as complicit as the PAP in the state run worship of Mammon (the profligate pursuit of prosperity).
Majulah Singapura, Onward Singapore, the future is one of self-accomplished state of eternal perdition.

I agree. Singapore is so much more safe and peaceful, unlike countries like Libya, Thailand etc where the leaders are so inefficient and corrupted. Who wants to live in countries filled with poverty, crimes and disharmony..kids there don't have good education and safe environment to grow up in, to be the best they can be.

The old citizens will soon cease to exist, leaving the new citizens to fend for themselves in the future.
