SINGAPORE: Potential
candidates in the upcoming General Election should "have their hearts
in the right place", said Minister for Home Affairs and Law K Shanmugam
said.
Mr Shanmugam said this at an event in Nee Soon East, organised by the North West CDC
"Apart
from the heart, they must have the ability to connect with people and
the ability to integrate, bring together the grassroots and they must
have that desire to work very hard. Because it is hard work," Mr
Shanmugam said.
He added that people should not assume that having a diverse background means a candidate can connect better with residents.
Mr Shanmugam said this in response to comments that the PAP's candidates are not diverse enough.
The
event, which aims to foster stronger community spirit and good
neighbourliness, was attended by some 2,000 residents in Nee Soon East.

"have their hearts in the right place", - well said

They are in the same boat, of course he said that. He is not an intelligent man. It is a waste of time, resources and money to let him stay on as Minister.
Only a few are sincere in serving the people. The majority are just there for the fat salary and bonus.

Ya la. If we the people of Singapore have the authority to lower their pay I doubt they will want to stay on in their current positions.
If I were an MP candidate, I'll tell you my heart is right on the money.

Can count with just one hand.

He missed out 1 very important thing that all mps and opposition members need.
That is people MUST like him/her too.
It is weird to demand your new recruits something which you never do constantly.
The seniors sprout out of nowhere to get active in front of the press and camera only recently.
So, how to expect the new guys to do it if they cannot do it themselves.
The heart is definitely on the dollars if you suddenly surrender your old citizenship for new.
But, then again, it is all wayang for the coming event.
