DPM Wong Kan Seng fires salvo at the opposition

DEPUTY Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng fired a salvo at opposition parties on Wednesday.
He accused them of wanting to capture a group representation constituency (GRC) for the wrong reasons.
'Some say they are doing it for party renewal, some want to be the first ones to do so, but what is the election about? Is it about the ambitions of a political party or individuals to make history?' said Mr Wong, who is also Coordinating Minister for National Security, and an MP in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.
He was referring to comments made by opposition leaders Low Thia Khiang of the Workers' Party and Chiam See Tong of the Singapore People's Party in recent weeks on their plans to possibly contest in a GRC.
He urged voters to back the stronger team that can serve them better, and not simply for the sake of having more opposition, especially at a time of global uncertainty when Singapore must keep pace or risk being left behind.
He noted that Parliament will have at least nine opposition MPs after the next election under the Non-Constituency MP scheme even if they are not elected.
Mr Wong was speaking at a media conference held on Wednesday to introduce three new candidates for the People's Action Party at the party's headquarters in Bedok.
They are Ms Foo Mee Har, 45, Standard Chartered's global head of premium banking, Mr Steve Tan Peng Hoe, 38, executive secretary of Young NTUC, and Mr Desmond Lee Ti-Seng, 35, associate director in the legal and regulations department of Temasek Holdings, the government's investment arm.

seriously speaking, we used to be at e atas level for being forward planning. Now everything can't even be done - I mean e basics.
Now when prices gone up, hawkers say they're not raising prices at all for 6 mths... I wonder how long can they sustain.
I heard e school/ uni canteen are not allowed any price increase for food
Seems as if e PAP now rather thinks they can control all e prices of imports instead of thinking of how to increase everyone's wages w/ productivity n efficiency.

they are not interested in SMEs. They are interested in gettign big MNCs so as to provide employment and put money in the CPF through workers for their investment ventures. How much the salary they don't care as long as there is an absolute increase in $$ inflow to CPF that matter most.
The CPF ponzi must not fail.

they ah..if SME close down, who is going to do bulk printing for them? The scholars do themselves?
if SME close down, who is going to export say processed foodstuff overseas to earn foreign currency?
if SME close down, who is going to provide dedicated services?
if SME close down, who is going to compete w/ say NTUC Fairprice?
if SME close down, Jurong is going to be very empty for like 80% (?) of the co are SMEs.

There are some that will forever be labour intensive like logisitcs company.So the other way to go about is land price - that's what MBT is unwilling to let go. Even a simple needed bus int they're so calculative today

It is funny that the bunch of croonies that are making noise to impress their master are actually the same bunch of people who have failed the people in fulfiling their million dollar duty when there is a screw-up.
But, they were right about choosing the right candidate and party to serve the people.
However, they have forgotten it is not them.
