THE Reform Party (RP) on Sunday said it plans to reshuffle its pack - swopping candidates for the Pioneer and Radin Mas single member constituencies (SMCs).
Pioneer will be contested by party chief Kenneth Jeyaretnam instead of theatre director Alec Tok, who will go to Radin Mas.
Mr Tok, 45, speaking to reporters during a walkabout in Radin Mas on Sunday, said the switch made sense because of the different voter profiles.
Residents in Pioneer are largely English-speaking and middle class, while those in Radin Mas tend to be older, poorer and Mandarin- or dialect-speaking.
'The party will have to consider who can communicate better to two different sets of demographics. He who can communicate to the electorate in their language should obviously be the choice.'
Radin Mas looks to be one of the most hotly contested wards, with four opposition parties saying they will contest it.

14k a month for a term. And that's on top of the salary from your regular job. Its almost 850k in 5 years, you can safely retire if you work out your sums.

it a bit disappointed the KJ decide to switch places. did he forget that his father use to be a MP for radin mas or formerly known as anson? those old folks who voted for his father will support him fully if KJ has done his home work well. I think it a mistake for KJ to switch place for unknow person. chances of getting vote to become MP at pioneer is lower compare to radin mas. my grandparents stay there use to support JBJ, they will vote for his son. I think it a mistake to think that by putting a chinese speaking person will gain vote, KJ father is not a chinese, but a good MP for the people there. I hope KJ don't change his plan please come to radin mas.

Actually it is not consider a wages but allowance, (in the past it is tax free, not sure nowadays). Thus they are allow to have a full time job also, of cos being one of the elites, most of them will also hold Independent Directors in a number of Listed Companies (3-4 on average), which will pay them good money also. (Won't be surprise that everything add up will be at least 50-100K per mths).
