How do people from other parts of the world identify us?
Do we have any traditions?
I know Singapore is a multi-race society but even multi-race can have a common tradition.
Look at the IrishÂ… they have Irish dancing, music, folklore etc. I donÂ’t think these are link with race or religion.
What kind of tradition would like to have?
tinydot
I don't know about the tradition, but being an overseas student in Melbourne, I have come to a a conclusion, though not the best answer, that the way we speak identifies us. More specifically, it's the commonly known "Singlish".
Asian students from HK, Indonesia, Vietnam...etc all know that we are from Singapore just by listening to the way we talk. Even the Aussies know that too, I was talking to another Singaporean friend on a cab, and when we got off, the Oz cab driver asked us whether we are from Singapore. I was shocked. We were basically talking in Singlish....with the authentic "rojak" flavor inside.
The Singapore government may not be too please about Singlish, but it certainly bring the "tinydot" out of us!

We are a FINE city
I met up for dinner with some old irc frens ... one of them said he had a korean biz "fren" ... who did not know there's a SINGAPORE, until once when they had this SEOUL Games or what sports event in Korea. Singapore took part in this certain event ... BUT there was however, NO supporters from our own country ... in the end the organiser had to get some "supporters" from a (korean) school to cheer for OUR team .... [/b]
