Here are my own thoughts on the match;
Tottenham played very well and did a good job of closing down the Man U players. It prevented them from being able to play their game. Tottenham actually were doing well against Man U at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and it was a personal mistake by Dawson that gave the game to Man U. Hence it wasn't surprising to see Tottenham play well against Man U at their home ground.
Tottenham's goal was well and valid in my opinion because I don't think it was a handball foul by Jenas. For one thing, he was on the ground when his hand touched the ball. Moreover, he could not even see the ball so the contact was not deliberate. Plus, the contact was minimal and didn't even change the direction or impede the motion of the ball. Credit to Aaron Lenon for picking up the ball and good finishing by Berbatov.
Evra was lucky not to concede a penalty because he was not watching the ball and the ball clearly hit his hand and the ball's motion did change. It wasn't deliberate, but I don't think the referee would be wrong to give the penalty.
Tottenham showed lots of determination in this match right from start to finish and it was a tremendous team effort. Michael Dawson seemed extra determined seemingly with something to prove after getting sent off in the FA Cup match. But he did seem a bit too eager at times and might have gotten into trouble with the referee if he wasn't careful.
Ronaldo as well was lucky not to get sent off for 2nd yellow because there were a few rash tackles in the 2nd half that seemed like yellow cards to me. Perhaps the Tottenham players were suceeding in winding him up.
Tottenham was so relentless and were chasing for every ball that Giggs and Scholes were not able to keep up. With the game going so high tempo throughout, Ferguson needed to introduce the fresh legs of Anderson and Nani. Hargreaves wasn't tiring, but I'm not sure if he was taken off due to injury. Hargreaves was having a first half and it seemed the frustration was getting to him. So maybe subbing him off was a good idea.
It would have been more ineteresting in terms of a title chase if Man U lost, Arsenal drew and Chelsea won. But oh well.... whatever happens, happens....
Nice summary, but i was watching my Chelsea conceding ground in the title race again.
Chelsea defence fell asleep after taking the lead & paid for it.
ManU was chasing Spurs all nite to draw the match. So much that serveral Red Devils were diving here & there. One player Rooney was even booked for continuous diving!
Good for them, the time was "extended" slightly for them to even the score!
Now if only Chelsea had the benefit of such "extended" timings.
heard rooney was so despo dat he dived, which the referee awarded him a yellow card dat cost him the next match.
so much for his previous "I'm too honest to dive" comment.

Chelsea & united are a bunch of scum abgs, what do you expect? Especially Chelsea, where were you when they were shit eh?
Probably never heard fo them 4 seasons ago, bunch of plastic glory hunting know f*ck all's.
Tottenham's Hutton raps Man Utd: They went down too easily
Tottenham's new right-back Alan Hutton has slammed the antics of Manchester United's players during Saturday's 1-1 draw. Hutton, who impressed at right-back on his debut, felt Wayne Rooney and his United team-mates went to ground too easily. "Sometimes it's quite hard and I felt as though a couple of times the United players went down rather easily," said the Scotland defender. |
Man Utd hit by fine over Spurs bookings
Manchester United have incurred an automatic £25,000 fine from the Football Association after seven of their players were booked during the 1-1 draw at Tottenham.
The fine is imposed any time a team picks up six or more yellow cards in a match, but United will not face any disciplinary action after a number of players remonstrated with the assistant referee after Tottenham's goal.
Should six or more of their players be booked again in a single match this season then United would face a £50,000 fine.
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has defended his actions after he and several team-mates confronted the linesman claiming Jermaine Jenas had handled in the build-up to Dimitar Berbatov's goal.
Ferdinand told the Manchester Evening News: "I thought they were fortunate with their goal. It was handball and how the linesman didn't see it I will never know.
"I was behind it and I could see it and I don't know how the linesman didn't. That's why I was remonstrating with him.
"I thought he handled it. Owen [Hargreaves ]would have cleaned up if he hadn't hit the ball with his hand and then it led to the cross and the goal."
conclusion: clamp down ronaldo and man utd is just another mediocre team
Yes, that was a dive by Rooney, but I seriously feel it wasn't the focus of the match although it did contribute to the high yellow card tally for Man U. I guess different people focus on different things for different reasons.
And......ManU dogs just refuse to focus on their faults! & shortcomings......

Not asking you faults now, which of Chelsea's strength's is it that draws you to them as your favourite club? Which are their qualities you admire and which are the players you like?
Why is it that even though your favourite club is Chelsea but yet you are so obsessed with Man U?

For one thing, I'm not Man U fan. And secondly, since when I focus on blues only.
Posts like these really prove you don't know what you are talking about.

I don't support anyone in particular, but I'm against overzealous, extremist fans who carry things too far. Especially if they don't make loud posts based on actual soccer knowledge.
So divingutd,
Why are you a fan of Chelsea? Which of their strengths attract you? Who are the Chelsea players that you like?
sumone, why u even bother to entertain such ppl? lol it will never end.. no pt lah arguing over unreasonable ppl..
