from what i see in ufc, its not easy to apply jujitsu.
u really need to know the mechanics of the body, if you're pinned in a position, how to get out of it and reverse the lock on the opponent. how to do 1/2 guard, full guard, how to protect your head from getting beaten in.
to be fully functional in a fight, you need both striking and grappling skills. but i think striking easier to learn
Erm actually grappling arts like BJJ and Catch/Submission Wrestling dominated the UFC when it was first set up, but eventually standup fighters got wiser and learnt how to defend against the takedown and even win upsets.
Nowadays, it's all about being well rounded... you need a good set of both striking and grappling skills, need to know enough of how to play your strongest points against your opponent's weakest points as well. If your opponent is like some BJJ black belt while you're just basic in grappling, it would be in your interest to use your grappling skills to keep the fight on your feet.
Striking of course is easier to learn, but you need a good ground game at the end of the day. Actually learning to strike in the clinch and on the ground are very important things and they help ease the transition from pure distance striking to grappling. So yeah, it depends on how creative you are.
