Steve McClaren admits Reading defender Nicky Shorey has given himself a great chance of keeping his England place against Estonia on Wednesday.Shorey lined up at left-back in Friday's friendly with Brazil as Chelsea duo Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge were both carrying injuries.
It is unclear whether either of the pair will be fit for the Euro 2008 qualifier in Tallinn, so Shorey remains on standby.
The 26-year-old became the first Reading player to represent England in over 100 years and McClaren admitted he was impressed.
The England coach said: "To defend against Ronaldinho, Robinho, Kaka - which he did - he did very well and going forward too - he looked very assured."

I hope more unheralded EPL players get chosen to represent England. You'll never know what soet of potential they can unleash.
