We don't have a football culture like theirs. We should at least try to make it up in numbers and also introduce a football culture at the same time......something which will never happen in paper-chase crazy S'pore. -
one problem tis country face is wrong use of reward, while poor countries like malaysia, thailand n vietnam playing for country n passion, our government only use money as reward to drive our players.
this kinda thing should start from young, n not importing foreigners to do the job for us. -

Cos i saw some kids wearing Tampines Rovers' jersey walking out of the stadium last week.
In my opinion, totally eliminate the Foreign Talent Scheme. Concentrate on nurturing our very own stars. Get trials for them in European leagues(Ajax and PSV sounds good to me and they produced the most number of talents. ).

We need to adopt the European mentaility. Children have to start becoming enthusiastic about football once they are born. Every kid's childhood dream is to be the next van Basten, Matthaeus, Gullit, Lineker etc and if they don't make it, they just carry on with other professions.
But what's happening now? Parents send their kids for ballet, piano, pre pre pre school, swimming, guitar, violin. Football, nobody does....except our malay s'poreans. -

Make our local footballers multi-million bucks earner 1st. no money no talk. no money no motivation to play well football. make footballer around the same status as lawyers, doctors etc..

I'm the captain of one of the U-18 clubs but to be true the standard is low. My club only have 3 chinese and thats rare to see. Other clubs all malay or indian. If singapore soccer want to go to a higher level i think first they need to attract chinese to play. -

we need to have a soccer culture here.
maybe not as extreme as the brazillians. but once where the country actively promotes the sport and get as many ppl to play as much as possible.
but of course i don't think it's feasible nor will it happen.
at the rate we're going now and at the rate other countries are progressing, even 'Goal 2050' or beyond we might not be able to make it. -
Goal 2100 sounds better.
