Manchester United and Tottenham have joined the interest for Reading's Bosman prospect Steve Sidwell.
The Journal says Sidwell has apparently told friends he favours a move to Newcastle over those reportedly jostling for his transfer. Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Chelsea and even Valencia are also said to be monitoring the soon to be out of contract player's situation.

Chelsea are considering a move for Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell.
The Daily Mail says Chelsea will rival Newcastle United for the Royals midfielder, who is off contract in June.
Premiership clubs are prevented from speaking to Bosman prospects at rival teams until the end of the season.
Anyone know what is so good about him i don't really know maybe someone can highlight it

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill will rival Newcastle United for Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell.
The Sunday Mirror says Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder is confident he will get his man but O'Neill is just as determined. The Irishman has acknowledged that Villa need to bolster their squad as the team faltered after a bright start. From a secure position in the top half of the table, Villa have nose-dived towards the relegation zone. -

Four Premiership clubs are chasing Reading's Bosman prospect Steve Sidwell.
The Daily Star Sunday says Newcastle are regarded as favourites to land Sidwell, 24, in the summer, when he'll be available as a Bosman free transfer. But Everton, Manchester City and Middlesbrough are also in the race for the former England Under-21 international. -
He's hardworking, makes celever runs at times and can score as well. Hard to see why most clubs won't want him. But, for a Spanish club to come after him? I don't think so. In Spain, football is slightly more indiviualistic than in England so he might be seen as a flop.
Being a Manchester United fan though, i can see why the club is linked with him. Apart from the fact that most hot prospects are linked with the big(ger) clubs, United are in need of midfielders, and strikers and defenders and keepers. But never mind. In the centre of midfield, all will be well if Owen Hargreaves makes an emotional homecoming to a place where he's never played before(club level that is). But, if that doesn't happen, they badly need someone else to cover. Sidwell might just do that, or he might not. But being there to make up the numbers can be a huge advantage, as can be seen with Chelsea.
Learning from Chelsea, midfielders can play everywhere on the field. In defence, in midfield(duh) and in attack. So it'd be great to have Sidwell at United even though i have no idea how he'd fit in. -

the best ways out for sidwell is to join clubs like newcastle, villa etc. clubs that can offer him first place football in order for him to improve to another levels. he will only be left on the bench if he goes to chelsea or man utd. remember shaun wright-phillips?

quite agreed that SWP looks pretty normal when compare side by side with the rest of Chelsea midfielder, afterall they're supposed to be the who's who in today football. but who would dare bet that Sidwell wouldn't be the next SWP, Duff..etc? he may be good, he may be young, he may even be a future superstar but the main reason of the interests in him is just simply because he going to come free
