CHELSEA striker Didier Drogba and United's Cristiano Ronaldo are battling it out for top spot in the Barclays Premiership player rankings.
Drogba, who has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season, is heading a tight race for the top spot in the Actim Index, the Premiership's official statistics.
Following the last round of Premiership fixtures before the break for the FA Cup quarter-finals, Drogba headed the Index by 15 points from Ronaldo.
With Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard 15 points further back from Ronaldo the pressure is on if either of the top two players in the rankings lets the standard of his performances drop.
Lampard netted twice as Chelsea came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Tottenham and earn an FA Cup quarter-final replay to keep his good form going.
Everton's Mikel Arteta occupied fourth spot in the rankings on 457 points after the last full round of fixtures before the break for the FA Cup, with Aston Villa's Gareth Barry rounding out the top five.
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov, Liverpool's Steven Finnan, Blackburn's Benni McCarthy and Rooney's team-mate Rio Ferdinand completed the top 10.

I know others may also have their own MVP, like henry of Gunners, or Gerrard of Liverpool.
I think the key is whether the team can still functions without this player.
Perhaps we can compare notes. -
for me as a chelsea fan, i say ronaldo deserves it. though drogba would have been a worthy winner too.

definitely not ronaldo please, he is talented but he dive too much. his integrity is questionable.
i will said drogba is better choice becos at the start of the season, his starting-line-up on the line but he prove his manager wrong by scoring more goals.
other then drogba, terry is definitely my man for the award, chelsea seem to drop point without his presence. -
Ricardo Carvalho is a gd choice too...he is veri solid tis season...petr cech done well too...chelsea stop conceding alot since cech is back..

u dun give any award for murderer or pple wif bad records as it will bring a shame in football. ronaldo could have won for fifa world cup young player but the officials disqualified him for his diving history.
good player dun dive so easily in penalty area, one of my manu friends told me the way he see ronaldo does it show he is too weak even wif a gentle tackle. -
