A win is indeed a win. But if you come & tell me Man Utd did not cheat in this CL match, then i've to come in & tell you off strongly.

This incident is no diff fr that Italy league incident where the ball-picker ownself throw the ball into an opponet's goal to help his home team win.
how can a ballpicker throw the ball into an opponent's goal to help his home team win? Don't you need a player to put the ball across the goal for that?

I find it amusing that people bother to start a post condemning Man Utd as cheats.
Even more amusing is that they ignore the facts of the match.
The free-kick was quickly taken and accepted by the Referee. Who is to blame here: Man Utd or the referee? Whatever happened to 'play to the whistle'? Lille's antics were that close from matching the Thai National Squad during the recent SEA Cup. Claude Puel should be overjoyed with himself. -

LILLE MAKE COMPLAINT OVER GIGGS GOAL
UEFA have received a protest from Lille about Ryan Giggs' winner in Manchester United's 1-0 Champions League victory.
The French club have made a complaint about GiggsÂ’ quickly-taken free-kick, claiming a violation of the laws of the game by the referee Eric Braamhaar, which led to the home side appearing to contemplate leaving the field.
A decision will be taken on Friday afternoon.
The European governing body had already announced they will investigate the incidents which marred the first leg of the last-16 tie in Lens.
French police were criticised by fans for being heavy-handed at the Stade Felix-Bollaert, and tear gas was used during the match.
The investigation will also look at possible ticketing problems which led to supporters appearing to be in danger of being crushed against a 10-foot high safety barrier.
A statement from Europe’s governing body read: “UEFA has officially opened an investigation into events at the UEFA Champions League first knockout round first-leg match between Lille and Manchester United in Lens on Tuesday night.”
UEFAÂ’s control and disciplinary body will discuss the safety and security issues on March 22, more than two weeks after the second leg of the last-16 tie.
The date effectively rules out the expulsion of the French side from the tournament in the way Feyenoord were kicked out of the UEFA Cup this season for crowd disturbances. -

MANCHESTER UNITED could be forced to replay the controversial Champions League clash against Lille.
UEFA announced last night they are to hold separate investigations into the on and off-field incidents that marred TuesdayÂ’s tie in Lens.
The French made a formal complaint about ref Eric Braamhaar, who allowed Ryan Giggs to score the winner with a quickly-taken free-kick.
UEFAÂ’s French president Michel Platini is known for his anti-English views and there are fears he will uphold his countrymenÂ’s complaint at tomorrowÂ’s meeting.
Lille president Michel Seydoux said he will be complaining directly to Platini.
Seydoux said: “I will call Michel Platini, who says he defends the beautiful game and the little teams.
“We have developed a beautiful game and we are a little team.”
Amazingly, a separate investigation into the crowd control problems will not be heard until March 22.
Several United fans were injured in a crush that brought back memories of the Hillsborough disaster.
Dozens of fans tried to climb a 10ft-high security fence in Lens to escape the crush.
But French police then over-reacted by spraying the supporters with teargas as they tried to escape the danger.
UEFA will not, however, discuss the incident until two weeks after the second leg at Old Trafford.
A UEFA spokesman said: “The reason for the two dates is because a protest against a technical error could mean the match being replayed, if the protest was upheld. “So the question over the goal would have to be decided way earlier than March 22, since the return leg is due to take place in two weeks’ time.”

The Independent says under Fifa guidelines Eric Braamhaar, the Dutch referee, was correct in allowing Giggs' goal, scored from a free-kick taken while Tony Sylva, the Lille goalkeeper, was lining up his defensive wall. Such flexible refereeing may be rare in Le Championnat but given that Thierry Henry has twice scored such goals in the Premiership, and once for France, the French game can hardly be unaware of the practice. -

Manchester United want Lille's Stade Felix-Bollaert to loses its Champions League licence.
The Guardian says United will recommend that the Stade Felix-Bollaert loses its Champions League licence unless it implements significant safety measures after the crowd problems that marred the 1-0 defeat of Lille on Tuesday.
United are also preparing to lodge the strongest possible complaint against the French police, who used tear gas after it became apparent that fans in a dangerously overpopulated stand were being crushed against 12ft perimeter fences and were beginning to panic.
United received 75 statements from supporters yesterday. The club's security officials have studied mobile-phone video footage and there is overwhelming evidence of police heavy-handedness and poor security. It is United's firm belief that the police took a dreadful risk by allowing in supporters who had black-market tickets for other areas of the Lens stadium.
One fan, Mark Harrison, said: "One young woman fell forward and was crushed against the fence. She was crying and tried to climb over the fence. When all the other fans saw this they started to panic and did the same thing. People were worried it might be like Hillsborough and so they started climbing the fence and trying to get out. The police started spraying us with pepper spray ... The police reaction just made things worse."
Another fan, Nick Boazuk, said: "I was genuinely scared for my life." -

Lille: Forged tickets to blame

Lille claim crowd disturbances at their Champions League clash against Manchester United occurred because Red Devils fans forged tickets ahead of the game.
UEFA have launched an investigation following Tuesday night's events at the Stade Felix-Bollaert, which saw United supporters appearing to be in danger of being crushed against a 10-foot-high safety barrier in their end.
A supply of counterfeit tickets has been blamed for the alarming situation developing, as it seemed too many people had been crammed into that part of the stadium.
Lille, however, have pointed the finger at the English club.
Les Dogues director general Xavier Thuilot told a press conference: "We sent their quota of places to Manchester several weeks ago, as is the usual thing to do. But the English club, instead of distributing the tickets to their supporters on their arrival at the stadium (or) on their descent from the bus, sent them out a month ago.
"The result - some very good forgeries, which have allowed some supporters to enter the stand reserved for them. All the forged tickets on the night were Manchester United tickets."
United rejected Lille's claims about the tickets.
A club spokesman said: "Tickets were distributed by recorded delivery 11 days before the game or for collection from February 1. We would normally send out tickets for our home games at Old Trafford six weeks before the match and we have no problems with forgeries."
It is understood United will strongly rebut Lille's claims in their report to UEFA and will raise the poor quality of the tickets provided by the French club.
