Chelsea, Manchester United and their rivals will be playing for a £50million pay day when they set out in pursuit of the 2007/08 Premiership title in August this year, thanks to the revenue agreed in a new global television contract.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has detailed the riches available to the winners - and losers - in English football's championship from next year onwards.
They represent an increase of almost £20 million for the top club, on the prize scooped by current champions Chelsea for their success last year.
Scudamore told the Daily Telegraph: 'This deal really does take us on to another level.
'It means that the team at the top - who got £30million last year - will get around £50million, while even those at the bottom will receive about £30million.'
That near equality of remuneration is possible because of the new £625million deal negotiated by Scudamore, adding to the huge pot already generated by existing domestic broadcast and internet contracts.
