mr `i am not in it for the money' makes move to play soccer in USA. a waste of playing talent. he claims to want to transform soccer in america into the basketball or baseball league.
i think AEG miscalculated. he will play 2 or 3 seasons and soccer will still be where it is in USA, on the lower rung of sports there.

I don't think he will do any impact in US...so what if he finishes top scorer, best player ??? Americans don't dig soccer, thats it. Sure, he can sell more shirst but can he outsell Basketball jerseys or American football or Baseball jerseys in US?
He will lose his 'familiarity' in Asia (where incidentally the high paying fans in China and Japan). How often you hear about scores in the American league? If American league is so good, why would the American league players move to Europe? Once ppl don't see him in action, he'll be forgotten. Simple.
But if he plays baseball, then its different, it will lift his popularity and he will gain more from shirt sales and various endorsement. I think he will last only one or two years before he is shipped out.... -
agreed. MLS has got little media coverage. i think they struggle within USA itself. All primetime sports are dominated by american-football, baseball, bball and ice hockey.
beckham will be disillusioned by the lack of `worshipping' he received.
i dun know how advertisers can be excited about him. the last time he was there and presented at some award presentation ceremony, the press said he squeked like a mouse.
he's definitely in it for the money. what a way to end top flight football. A swift fall.... -
he will bring attention to soccer in US but he wun change culture there as he is not even big there... even all the greats failed to make big impact so forget it.. guess hes there to save face and for $$$...
