Age-old mystery: How to improve SING football?

Mention the big four in EPL, and most of us can rattle their squads, history and etc.
Coming to S-league, and most of us would scatch our heads.
Yes, many debates/discussions/reviews been done, but till date, our sleague quality is still the same, and even with the special U23 teams, we just got blasted out of the Asian Cup.
With the exposure to so much football, why our team simply can't make it?
1) have we lost that kampung spirit/fire to fight?
2) We too worried about the pay/facilities? are our boys too pampered??
3) We lack poor organisation (our FA just can't make it)? Don't we have a Sport Schools now?
4) Our media is cooking stories that gives false impressions?
(one minute, adore, one minute slam).
5) we just can't make it, we should do a Zidane's type (importing foreign talent)?
Simply, what must be done to put or Sleague, our national team back onto our TV? to put it on par with EPL, Liga, etc?

Brazil vs Singapore? pay them more more more!
If cannot then at least make the matches more interesting lah. And change the commentators also if want to broadcast

We gotta stat really young.5-6 would be nice.Younger, the better
But parents wont allow that cause they all think they'll be ruining their kids' future by letting them focus on football completely.So unless the society changes the mindset, which i highly doubt it would, it is impossible to improve Sg football.

importing of foreign talents into the team can has adverse effect..
just think about it; will you prefer a pure singaporeans soccer team, or one that has a foreigner in just about every position?
there..support for the team decreases even more
and the lack of publicity hurts too..how often do you see the news mentioning our soccer team? seldom, if ever..
and yes, the main stumbling block is the mentality of parents.. -
No, its because there is no future for football in Singapore, so many kids will not wana put all their time and effort to fully developed themselves as footballers.

forget about soccer lah...develop some other sport that's better for us. for example, India soccer team is stronger than Singapore but they are not passion for it. They are passion for cricket.

theres a shortage of football fields in singapore for our youths to play football on.even there is,its located far far away etc marina bay.other than that,good fields are either govt property(which means you cant set foot on the field) or those of clubs or need to pay for it (etc the cage which is really expensive) those are for rich kids.but the fact is that most singapore teens or kids cant afford to pay that much just to play football.so it results in hdb void deck football or even playing at multi-purpose hall which is illegal which most of you dont know.my friend got caught playing soccer at a multi-purpose hall and got a warning by some hdb officals or something.furthermore i dont see any talent scouts around looking for talents are hdb streetsoccer courts.these courts are poorly maintained and is always very dirty and in unplayable conditions.so whats the use of hiring foreign coachers to coach these 'talented' players in the national team when theres much more talented players unearthed.i remember once some one said singapore can get in to the world cup by 2010?haha dream on man.you think winning a tiger cup means you're champions of asia huh?if nothing is to be done,singapore can Never get into the world cup or even winning the AFC title.i myself is a football player.but because of lacking of football courts and fields i gave up football.worst still my hdb area doesnt have a football court or field which means i have to travel far to play football and resulting in arriving home very late at around 7pm.theres one more reason to i gave up football thats because of my school.the football cca did not let me in cause they are full.but when i watched one of their training,i swear most of them are really lousy.i am way better than them and i cant play.screw local football,viva epl

what about the sports school??
isn't that a change in the way we are approaching this?
but realistically, is soccer the way forward?
should we put more into sailing? or bowling?
forget sports that teams already have an advantage, such as table-tennis, soccer, basketball, badminton...
seems our authorities love to charge headstrong into a wall. -
Just let Sillypore soccer die a natural death.....
Sure...one can be optimistic and hope for the best but you can bet my last dollar Sillypore soccer will only be good enough to win the odd Tiger Cup every now and then....
It's a reflection of the business world...Singapore may be good economically....of course the other Tigers like Taiwan and HK are doing much better than us....
End of the day....soccer will remain in the backwaters.....Get Real! Sillypore soccer's glory days are long gone.....bread and butter issues in Sillypore are more important than soccer....probably make more money betting on EPL matches than supporting the lions......
In terms of sports.....if Sillypore must really be an all orunder...then I'd rather put my money with sailing...with 5 GOLDS at the Asian Games.....c'mon...the Lions are a joke.....never even got a sniff of 1 Gold, kicked out in the prelims....

parents protect their kids too much so not enuff development of potentials... hearsay tat coaches favour certain race during selection... teams too kelong... need better coaches and technical trainers.... lastly players ownself dun hv enuff committment, lack ambition... so there reali is no future for sg football, not even 10 years time...

Yeah....and if you calculate the investment to get the golds.....its much more worth Sillypore's while....
You invest in what 20-30 people in soccer.....players, coaches, backroom staff...pay for their salaries etc and even if we do strike gold...its just one gold...........
You invest in 20-30 people in sailing and you get 5 GOLDS!!!!!! man....the ROI is much more -
You want our national football team to win matches?
Very simple. Get more chinese players into the team. Not those PRC turn PR turn CITIZENS players but locally born Singaporean Chinese. What our present national team lack now is fighting spirit. Sg chinese got never say die fighting spirit.
Good example: Our water polo team.
Even one retired Sg famous player once said that we badly need more chinese players to play for the national team. -

We don't have many proper facilities, the pitch is lousy.
If wanna improve they must invest and start up school with international standard. -
No need to improve liao. We are the best and will get into World Cup 2010. No doubts about it.
