Harry Redknapp is looking to keep Portsmouth in the hunt for a European place by drafting in some new players during the transfer window.
Saturday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal kept Pompey inside the top six and manager Redknapp sees the injection of fresh blood as being key to his side's chances of securing a UEFA Cup spot.
"I never believed we would have been up towards the top of the table at the start of the season," he said.
"In pre-season we drew with Oxford and after that game I felt we were going to have another very long season, but since then the players have been excellent.
"If we can bring in a couple of bodies in January then we have a chance of sustaining it.
"The owners have been as good as gold to me and if we can sign two or three players in January we will be fine.
"It would be nice for me to spend some money in the new year, but it has to be on the right players."
it will be interesting to see the movements when the window opens.
many EPL clubs will be signing new players because they have richer owners.
