Guti is set for crunch talks today with Real Madrid management after new contract talks were broken off last week.
Sources close to the player told AS that Guti learned on Friday that negotiations had collapsed after it had appeared a deal was in place for him to extend his current contract, which expires in 2008.
The midfielder was very upset by events, though close friends insist his dismissal against Racing Santander had nothing to do with Real's U-turn.
Guti will speak with management today, with his future now in the balance.
It's reported that on Friday Guti received an offer of £3 million-a-year for four years through to 2010 - over £700,000-a-year more than his current wages. Guti is believed to be seeking nearer to £3.6 million-a-year.

AC Milan are set to lose at least three of their Brazilian stars at the end of this season.
Milan directors have genuine fear they will be forced to sell Kaka to Real Madrid next June, particularly if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, says La Repubblica.
Also on their way are goalkeeper Dida, who has refused to sign a new contract, fullback Cafu and veteran attacker Serginho, who is facing retirement due to a back complaint.
Inter Milan president Moratti draws up Beckham offer

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is preparing a pre-contract offer for Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham.
Luis Figo is set to leave Inter at the end of this season, says Corriere dello Sport, and Moratti wants Beckham as a direct replacement. The former England captain is off contract in the summer and has baulked at discussing new terms while he remains on the outer of coach Fabio Capello's plans.
Moratti knows the difficulty some players have with Capello and is confident Beckham's arrival can add to his squad for next season -

Although I don't really like Milan, I still feel that a team with such places shouldn't be in the lower half of the table. Good to see that they finally show their class. Just too bad that Inter has run away with the league, so unlikely to catch them. 5 points separate 4th and 13th.. Too close.
