Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is demanding a strong referee for this week's massive Premiership showdown with Chelsea.
Fergie has already claimed the champions are being given 'special treatment' after referees' supremo Keith Hackett agreed to meet Mourinho following the Chelsea manager's scathing attack on match official Graham Poll following their 2-1 defeat at Tottenham 15 days ago.
Ferguson, whose side are three points clear, said: "We need a strong referee after everything that's gone on in the last few weeks. There's going to be a lot of focus on him and I hope he's not swayed by recent events."
Ferguson fears favouritism for Chelsea from the FA when the appointment is made and admits that the referee will be his chief concern.
He added: "The Chelsea game is obviously gathering arms and legs. It will be built up and built up until kick-off time, so it's a good thing we have this really important match on Tuesday against Celtic."

They may talk it up through the press, but Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and Chelsea's Jose Mourinho remain the best of friends ahead of this week's big showdown.
The pair dined out in London on Friday night, served up a feast by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes, at his London restaurant Rhodes 24.
Ferguson is a patron of Shine, a charity which helps people with learning difficulties and their families. And he had been hoping to arrange a dinner with his Chelsea counterpart to auction off for some time.
Shine chief executive Stephen Shields told the People: "Sir Alex phoned our chair man Jim O'Neill some months ago to tell him he was hoping to invite Jose to dinner but was waiting for the right time.
"He asked him towards the end of last season and Jose agreed.
"We auctioned the night, which we called 'A Dinner With Genius', in June - Friday was the night we got everyone together.
"We are thrilled at the success and were additionally thrilled that Jose, on top of the work Alex does for us, was able to give us some of his time."
Also at the dinner were 12 guests, who paid a total of �130,000 for the privilege. -

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United's leadership is eating away at him.
Mourinho admitted: �The only thing I am not happy with at the moment is the fact that we�re second in the Premiership when I want to be first. But we have a chance to change that next Sunday.
We are three points behind United and I�d prefer to be 20 points ahead. But it�s only three points and we can live with that situation.
�Last season we had a 15-point lead over them and when they beat us at Old Trafford everyone got so enthusiastic because the gap was down to 12 points.
�After next Sunday the difference could be zero or it could be six points. But whatever the result, the title race will still be open.
�It�s close this time. We have two strong teams at the top and even though Arsenal are a bit behind us, they are still in contention because they are also a top-quality team.
�But I am still confident. We are playing well, winning matches and if everything goes in the correct way we will be OK.�
The last time Chelsea met United, the Blues won 3-0 at the Bridge in April to confirm their second successive championship.
If Chelsea are to overtake United this time, they would have to win by four goals. Yet Mourinho is adamant his team will not be stifled by caution.
He said: �We go to Old Trafford to win. But we have to respect their sense of football, especially the sense of high-level matches between two top teams.
�If Manchester United beat Chelsea it�s not an earthquake because it�s a big team beating a big team.
�I am just sorry our next game is against Werder Bremen in the Champions League and not United.� -

i think Man U wuldn't lose much if they din win agst Chelsea, a draw will be satisfactory - they have 3 points cushion & superior goal difference, the pressure is not that intense. -

if Man utd not playing Champions League tis wed, i will take man utd for a narrow win but remember they cant lose wed match against celtic. so i think man utd will try to win before 1st half den 2nd half can rest some players. keep them for sat against chelsea. wat u think?

its an excellent chance for man u to pull away from chelsea this sunday, if they win, it will be 6 pts, with arsenal still to play chelsea later on.

Ref Howard Webb has been appointed in charge for this week's massive Premiership crunch match between Manchester United and Chelsea.
Referees are currently in the spotlight with Phil Dowd the latest to be strongly criticised after a number of controversial decisions in Blackburn's draw with Tottenham at Ewood Park.
Sunday's match at Old Trafford brings together the top two teams in the Barclays Premiership and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already expressed his desire for a game free of controversy.
"I hope the game is not decided by a referee's decision because it promises to be a fantastic game. Let's hope that's the case," Ferguson said on Saturday.
"It's one that everybody is looking forward to and the whole world will be watching." -
