A cap to ensure % English Players fielded in EPL Teams

ANGRY Arsene Wenger last night vowed to fight FIFA plans to force Arsenal to field SIX English players in his team.

Personally, it is a joke when Gunners field a team not having a single English.
I feel that no doubt, we want the best for your fans, but opportunities have to be given to local players to stage their claims.
It is the same logics if you reflect that to job market. Imagine all is kept for Foreign Talent cause they are cheaper & seems better.
This is a big problem that is hitting our shores too. Look at how our Local soccer have not progressed despite the occassional Tiger Cup.
Look deeper and you can see that it also affects the economic binding of each country.
Issue: - is , do you want to give your locals a chance? Certainly a cap of FT is a logicial thing to ensure certain% are locals, right? -
English player will be over price as the numbers of good players to field in every EPL teams is not many. To field six, they need atleast 10 Englishmen in the squad of 22. That's what Man U and Chelsea are buying them at a very high price which not many team can do, the only way is to train and develop youngster which I think the FA want.

enforcing teams to field 6 English players is like a double edged sword.. on one hand it might gives the locals a better chances of claiming a place in the league but on the other hand, is it what they deserved? will it lower the standard of the league in general? and why 6?
oh..and btw, investing heavily in academies is nothing compare to buying players.. its not the money outlay that makes clubs not will to invest so much on them..its more because even with investment the returns in term of having a player good enough to progress to the 1st team might not happen hence a easier and surest way is to just go out and buy a player worthy of the 1st team, which is what is happening to most of the teams that doesn't have a good blend of English players in their team.. bad choice.. but its the market demand that forced them to do so... -

I think is bad for the game cos we will not get to see the best league in the world liao, at the moment EPL is very successful with many big name from all over the world. Players will be needed by their countries league also, end up will be a boring English game.
1 league consist of 18-22 teams, eg 20 x 6 =120 players.
1 country can produce at most 40 good players, meaning the rest 80 over players are just there to make up the numbers. These 40 players will cost €30 or more which are out of reach to many club .
By 2008 there must be 8 players in 25 men squad. -
its crap ruling... whether the team wans to field english players is up to the team not up to FIFA... this limits teams with limited resources as big teams like chelsea, manu can buy up all the young english players n the remainder all got no alternatives n accept fate of their academy...... this will also increase the price of english players which is already overpriced...

we supporters want to see entertaining football more than home grown players on the field.
if they can produce coles and rooneys on a regular basis lets say 3-5 years, then i rest my case
the pt of fifa is to give local talent a fair chance
but not all local players can step up to the mark
if the top clubs are going to produce ppl like francis jeffers then only the lower clubs will stand to gain -
3-4 english players a team is already alot.6 is madness...look at the current england squad. how many of them are good enough for champions league?

no matter what, i think the FA is thinking of England team and how this league can benefit the local young players.
No point getting the most exciting league, but you are parading other countries' talent. what about home-grown?
if you have no choice but to invest more, the quality of homegrown will be better and in future, your whole league would benefit and your country team as well.
For me, yes, it brings more money, but I still have to take care of future generations of my country. If we simply go foreign like Arsenal, would we see another Scholes, Beckham, Rooney, Gazza, Charltons?? or even a major trophy?
English FA must know that local fans are loyal, and they would support their clubs, and even more, if they know the team is made up of local homegrown.
And yes, quality would suffer but it would pick up, and the benefits are superb. -
english players sucks. europeans and latins are more talented than the english.

all teams have english players including arsenal(justin hoyte and Theo) and blackburn (David Bentley)
some clubs like portsmouth and tottenham have 6 - 7 1st team english players
it kinda of help teams like arsenal to cover it up the quota since this english players are playing week in week out
but arsenal walcott and hoyte are not even 1st team and Arsenal field 0 english player in yesterday game against LFC and win 3-0 -

I think in order to do this properly, a lot of work needs to be in.

the whole point of having a football league is to:
a. provide entertainment
b. promote sports
c. provide opportunities for football players & indirectly raise the overall football level of the community/country.
Look at Arsenal, they are not doing that. It ridiculous to field an entire team of expatriates when playing in a domestic league. If I am a fan, I feel cheated, imagine 60,000+ English fans paying huge money to watch a team of foreigners playing for a local club. What contribution is Arsenal doing in terms of promoting sports / developing football talent? They shld play a part and putting in a cap on the number of English players makes it a more level playing field and provide more opportunities for English players.
Nowhere in Europe do we see teams fielding an entire foreign players - not in Italy, not in Spain. heck, even Barcalona and Real Madrid has local players on their first team. What Arsenal (which, incidentially a club with long rich history in English football) is doing, is really not helping the greater things at all. and they still have the cheek to fight (both off and on the sidelines). -

but cole and campbell left so left only non 1st team hoyte and walcott -

ok back to the topic..forcing a English club manager to have English players in his lineup is not unreasonable.. afterall they are not called a English team for nothing right? they are supposed to be a English team consisting of English players and a couple of non english players to go out and play against other clubs from outside England.. ppl complain that there isn't much good English young players ard but seriously did they scout ard hard enough?? these days given that most English clubs are pretty rich and the change of youth players transfer ruling and of course demand for results are immediate, manager/club chairman will usually go for the easiest way which is just go out to the market and pick up whoever that has enough talent but was founded by some other clubs to make their team instead of using their own scouts to search for young talents and try to mature them thru their own academy and of course they didn't quite help that those lesser club can't really afford to outbid a bigger club hence have to constantly put in alot of hard work to scout/search for raw talents but was then being "stolen" once a good raw talent was found..
