Is wigan a flop????? Don't u think that wigan are alike to Leeds United (not financially)?????? Looks like Emile Heskey has lost power.
And thankfuly for them, they've signed Chris Kirkland from Liverpool. Will it be helped???? Have ur say here. -

Those promoted teams always found their second season in the top flight tougher than their first though.

In what way is Wigan a flop? They are tenth in the table as of today. Last season, they were exceptional, but that;s only because we all didn't expect too much of them in the first place. When they reach the Carling Cup final, and finish repsectably in the league, we changed our views of them, and expect them to replicate it this season again.
The thing is, teams now know Wigan's style of play. They sign many new players these season to strengthen the team. Danny Landzaat, Valencia, Kilbane, Heskey, Kirland etc took time to settle in. And Wigan's defence sucks? Leighton Baines is the man to look out for on the left. He is a shoo-in for England sooner rather than later. Fitz Hall is a good capture from Crystal Palace, and sooner or later, he will shine.
Come the end of the season, I still expect Wigan to remain a EPL team, but maybe not finish as high as they did last season. -
the threadstarter see wigan had a bad start and start to assume that this year they are a flop and just like when he see man utd on top of the table for a while and he start to assume that man utd going to win the epl title even though the fact remain that their quality on the pitch is clearly inferior to chelsea

For me, Wigan lost Bullard and Jason Roberts, and right back.., who were impt in Wigan team.
However, under Paul Jewell, he is a survivor, and he would make the club stay up in EPL, I believe. -
new promoted clubs normally do well in their first season. then they fade away with each passing seasons.
only those that can really keep going for a few seasons will last.

For me, I would prefer the EPL to be compound to lesser teams.
For now, it is quite sad..
3-4 teams fight to avoid relegation.
5-6 teams fight for european football.
rest just park in the middle and just wait for an opportunity to get european football.
quite stupid.
why can't they make it lesser team, more competitive, and then more time for the national side to have time to bond and do better?
being fed with an overdose of EPL, and see how the 3lions perform on world stage, just don't understand how talented players just can't gel..

it is all because of money.
there are too many teams in the premiership.
CL is also facing the same problem. it is supposed to be a tournament for the league champions of every european nations. but teams that finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th get to challenge for the trophy.
it weakens the competition as too many mediocre clubs are involved.
frankly how many matches are really worth watching. many are one-sided affairs.
