Chelsea nine in line for world award

have nine players from our current squad in the shortlist for the FifPro World Player of the Year award, the best representation by any club.
FifPro is the international playersÂ’ union and their award was started last year.
A total of 43,000 players have been balloted on the 2006 best player plus a world XI.
The list of 55 nominations contains three of ChelseaÂ’s summer signings, Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko, plus Petr Cech, John Terry, Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Arjen Robben and Didier Drogba.
The Chelsea list increases to ten if on-loan Hernán Crespo is included and to 11 if Gallas is included
Ronaldinho was last yearÂ’s inaugural winner with Terry, Lampard, Makelele and Shevchenko all making the World XI.
This year's winner will be announced on November 6.
