Villa boss O'Neill happy to keep players in dark tribalfooball.com - October 09, 2006
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has revealed one of his secrets to success is keeping his players constantly on their toes. O'Neill has used only 18 players so far this season - less than any other Premiership boss. But he still keeps his men sharp by making them unsure if they are starting or not.
It's a trick he borrowed from Brian Clough.
O'Neill said: "I never knew for sure if I was in the team at Forest, and as a manager I've always waited until an hour or so before kickoff to name the team. I think it keeps the players on their toes."
o okay............but if u named thr squad already they can communicate with each other more or something like that but maybe he is right to name the squad 1 hour before the kick-off seems like it is working temporary
