Singapore Boxing?

Does anyone know anything about the boxing/kickboxing scene in Singapore? I'm 17 and thinking of joining a club and competing. I'm in search for a school in the east area(tampines,simei etc). Anyone with any info please reply. Thanks

perhaps you might wana try the martial arts forum. i do know of a kickboxing instructor who holds his classes at clark quay.

Couple of places that I know of that teach classical boxing:
1. Farrer Park gym - that's where the national squad trains. It's 50 dollars a month - unlimited sessions, i.e. you get to train everyday. Pretty worth it imo.
2. Syed Kadir's boxing school - ex-National coach, famous figure in the boxing scene. Located in the east, used to be at the SMAIA. Don't know if it's still there. Google for more info. Heard it's more recreational in nature though.
3. Some school in Bugis - don't know much about this one. One of the members here trains there. Hopefully, he'll come across this thread and post some details.
4. http://www.combatacademy.com.sg/ - Seems they offer boxing classes here. Couldn't find details but website shows details of an amateur boxing tournament being held. Perhaps u could email the webmaster.
Besides the above, I think there a couple more places around. Happy searching. -

Yup, they have fixed training times. But it's kinda like Muay Thai training - you do your own thing. Run, skip rope, shadow box, bag work. Instructors are there to guide you as and when and give you drills to do. Also, like in Muay Thai, you will have sessions in the ring with the instructors with the boxing mitts. Basically, they also work on the timer system. For instance, bag work for 5 mins, break 1 min, continue 5 mins, etc. Like how the timing works for a round in a fight.

Pestana Boxing School is the one in Bugis. Sg best boxer, Muhammed Nor Rizan is currently training in that school.
They charge $50 upon the 1st entry and $50 monthly for working adults. And as for students they charge $30 upon 1st entry and $30 monthly.
