Back stabbers? I dun get it. Care to explain?Originally posted by zocoss:I guess McClaren made a wise choice by picking Terry over Gerrard to be his captain, as he is probably the best choice compare to the other 2 back-stabbers. Gerrard & Lampard.
Well, in the run-up to the selection, Gerrard and Lampard... have been criticizing sven for their WC exit.Originally posted by Bontakun:Back stabbers? I dun get it. Care to explain?
Ooooooooooohh....Originally posted by zocoss:Well, in the run-up to the selection, Gerrard and Lampard... have been criticizing sven for their WC exit.
As if it was only svenÂ’s fault... the whole team and not just one man should bear the responsibility when a team fail and I think they forgot that Steve McClaren was SvenÂ’s No.2 Â… whereas Terry did not criticize Sven but only said good things and the future with McClaren in charge.
I guess he was smarter by not back-stabbing the former boss unlike the other 2.
actually the fualt really lies on sven. of course the rest are not exactly blameless( esp lampard with his extraordinary number of misses) but mainly its sven.Originally posted by zocoss:Well, in the run-up to the selection, Gerrard and Lampard... have been criticizing sven for their WC exit.

dont cock lahOriginally posted by T.Ryousuke:Don't think Steve G make a good captain, he like to go forward more than defending. Look at Liverpool, without him is a different team, too depend on him. Anyway good to see England have 2 good leader, one behind and the other leading the attack.
Yeah... Lampard obviously didn't look in the mirror much before shooting darts at SGE.Originally posted by hisoka:actually the fualt really lies on sven. of course the rest are not exactly blameless( esp lampard with his extraordinary number of misses) but mainly its sven.
Regardless of whose fault it was still not the right thing to do. Cos if you think, would you be comfortable with these 2 guys after seeing what they have done to the former boss? Where he was No.2Originally posted by hisoka:actually the fualt really lies on sven. of course the rest are not exactly blameless( esp lampard with his extraordinary number of misses) but mainly its sven.

While he was there, they respected him, said nice things about him, showed support for him and everything else. Then the moment they knew he was no longer boss, they criticize him and put all the blame on him as tho they didn't played a part.
This was someone who had helped and groomed them all these years. It just shows these people are not worthy of being the captain or even a friend. Gerrard or Lampard were not even first team members and sven gave them their chances.
I guess Terry was the right choice at the end.
Yeah a born leader...i would choose terry over beckham anytime..Originally posted by fudgester:Yeah... Lampard obviously didn't look in the mirror much before shooting darts at SGE.
In any case, Terry's a good choice. He's a solid, reliable player who can play consistently well. I remember reading about him giving motivation talks to the team before each World Cup match.
li think these two sure cannot see eyes-to-eyes one cos both of them are playing attacking midfielder.Originally posted by Twice A Day:Yeah a born leader...i would choose terry over beckham anytime..
Gerrard seems a strong candidate..But imagine the secnario of gerrard instructing lampard to pass the ball..Hmmm
Gerrard: lampard...here..to me...
Gerrard: here..quick
Gerrard: Now..the pass now!!!
Lampard: Yawnz![]()
Well Owen did, when sven was till in charge and before he got injure. He said it aloud like a man and hope to fix any problems within the team.Originally posted by hisoka:![]()

you don't talk bad about your boss or disrespect him and let him know while hes still in power. its common knowledge and sense.
however after that, you can do so to point out mistakes made(for rectification) and perhaps to save your own skin/for your own benefit
Nobody seriously thinks he is a winner...Originally posted by weiqimun:regardless, i think ingerland will be going thru a period of dark times under stve mcC. dun think he's winner.
when terry is injured or suspended lohz. about the former, touch wood..Originally posted by zocoss:I guess Gerrard will never be captain of England for this lifetime since Terry is younger or about the same age as him... At best he will be Vice cap or Stand-in-Cap.
Maybe the next captain will be Rooney when its up for grabs again cos he is still young and in 5 yrs time he will only be 25 or 26 the right age to take over.![]()
i hv never come across age as a factor, especially the advantage of being younger. while the old adage is true, "if u r good enuf, u r old enuf", nothin' stops stevie g if he demonstrate greater capability or john t messes up.Originally posted by zocoss:I guess Gerrard will never be captain of England for this lifetime since Terry is younger or about the same age as him... Well, a coach normally picks someone around the age of 25 to 28 as captain as this allows the player to stay around for about 4 to 6yrs.Originally posted by weiqimun:i hv never come across age as a factor, especially the advantage of being younger. while the old adage is true, "if u r good enuf, u r old enuf", nothin' stops stevie g if he demonstrate greater capability or john t messes up.
if anything else, the longer u r in the squad, the more commanding u r, in terms of presence, leader's quality, etc.
rooney for all his (lack of) temperament logically cannot be the captain.
