PATRICK VIEIRA wants to join Manchester United — and hopes to have a deal done inside 48 hours.
The ex-Arsenal star, 30, has decided to quit Juventus after their relegation in the Serie A match-fixing scandal.
Vieira said: “Everyone wants to play for a club like Manchester United at the very highest level. It might be difficult after nine years at Arsenal but anything can happen in football.
“I will certainly not be playing for Juventus next season after they were relegated to Serie B.
“I believe my future will be sorted out in the next 48 hours.”
If Vieira goes to Old Trafford he will link up with midfielder Michael Carrick, who completed an £18.6million move from Tottenham yesterday.
Vieira joined Juventus for £13.7m last summer after nine years at the Gunners.
But with the Turin side dumped from ItalyÂ’s top flight and without Champions League football, Juve need to off-load their highly-paid stars.
That means United boss Alex Ferguson could get Vieira for as little as £6m. -
If he does join Man Utd... the no. 16 should goes to him, period.

finally a piece of good news - hopefully SAF moves to sign Viera, he's known to be admirer of Viera.
But reservation is that he may not have the fire in him anymore
It will defintely add bite to the midfield. Then we have midfield of Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Viera & Park (or Giggs). Scholes plays behind Rooney, who will be the lone striker.
Solsj can go to the bench and I await to see if he still live up to the reputation of "super-sub" & I hope SAF don't need to call on his svc at all for the new season.... -

Man U needs a midfield general like Vieira . Ideally he partner with Carrick in midfield and Man U can opt to play formation 4-2-3-1 . How about that ?

Vieira has been tipped to link up with Inter ever since Juventus were relegated to Serie B for their role in the Italian match-fixing scandal.
The midfield powerhouse has admitted he does not wish to play outside the top flight and has also intimated an interest in a move to Manchester United.
But Inter have been strong favourites to snap up the former Arsenal captain and a deal now finally appears close to completion.
The Old Lady's general manager Jean-Claud Blanc revealed the two clubs had settled on a fee for Vieira.
"Between both clubs, everything is sorted out now," Blanc told L'Equipe.
Inter are thought to be paying in the region of €9.5 million (£6.5 million) for the France international, who is expected to sign a four-year contract later this week. -
If Patrick Vieira does go the Inter, it will complete one of the most ironic moves in his career.
As a player at Milan, he formed part of the team that won the scudetto in 1996 but was plagued by racism and vowed never to play in Italy again. When he was finally brought to Arsenal for 4 mil pounds, it began as a match-made in Heaven for the frenchman. Together with Emmanual Petit, he brought steel to the Arsenal Midfield, with Bergkamp creating the chances and Overmars and Anelka banging in the goals.
After the controversial sale to Juve, and now an unlikely final destination at Inter, it seems he has come full circle back to the place that started his career: Milano. -

i think his hands are tied, since he doesn't want to play in serie b. actually, if he's paid the same, he should take it easy a little and enjoy the roses @ serie b. juve have every chance to make it back to serie a in 1 season. i dun think his place in les blues is threaten. like beckHAM, his place in the national team is guaranteed.
on the emotional level, he may not want to play in epl other than the gunners. -

Anyway, its VIEIRA that said he wants to join Man United — and hopes to have a deal done inside 48 hours by Thursday to register him in time for the Champions League group stages.
So far Man u have not made any offer to any other players beside Carrick. SAF has also not said if he still wants Vieira...
Lets wait and see how this plays out, every team have to register their players by Friday in time for the Champions League group stages. Thats is why Arsenal is holding out for $25 to $30m for A cole knowing chelsea must accept their terms or demands or no cole for Champions League group stages... -

I guess vieira was trying to use Man u to get a better personal offer from inter. Anyway, i don't think SAF is willing to sign him for 4 yrs at his age. Even keane, giggs don't get 4yrs contract when they reach 30... at most 2yrs or 1yr with another option.
Cos Vieira already 30 coming to 31... with 4 yrs contract Wah Lau... 34 coming to 35 can still play well meh? Somemore salary not cheap leh per week about 80 to 90 000s. -
