ever hear the trash talking done by the yanks?
Yeah well, shameful to raise the incident into a 'nationalist' accusation: French vs Italian.Originally posted by countdracula:that's a racist statment, your're headbutted...
There is no rule to that matter, but certainly no pride nor honour in inciting such distasteful remarks to anger and provoke opposing players.Originally posted by dragg:is it a rule that players cannot insult each other during a match?
is it a rule to fine and suspend a player for insulting another?
anyone here knows the rules in regards to the above questions?

i think zz lost his cool, despite his years on the pitch.
so, maldini is not completely wrong in his assessment.
But there's a high chance that his children and grand children will be regarded as Italians I guess?Originally posted by The man who was death:christian manfredini is born in ivory coast, he just have italian passport, was in the ivory coast world cup squad.
it's still just words...one's perspective of what's said and in what context will determine your action. in this case, it a football match at the highest level n u know your opponent will try to unsettle u in any way possible. some one said earlier that if zizou feel strongly about that, he could take action after the match. in the extreme, hire a hitman and take him out....but of cos would one do tht? it still boils down to how one take the insults n in what context.Originally posted by BÃ¥seline:If that player insult you as shorty or things that are jus you.. that's fine.
If it touches you mother or you family and that it's no better than comparing to a prostitute... what's your say?
My question is: why is there a need to even say such things? What's the player's motive? To provoke a response? What will that lead to? Why can't a game be played for what it is instead of hurling abuse and profanities?Originally posted by weiqimun:it's still just words...one's perspective of what's said and in what context will determine your action. in this case, it a football match at the highest level n u know your opponent will try to unsettle u in any way possible. some one said earlier that if zizou feel strongly about that, he could take action after the match. in the extreme, hire a hitman and take him out....but of cos would one do tht? it still boils down to how one take the insults n in what context.
zizou could say the exact same thing to the materazzi in reply. what would mat do then?
zizou lost his head in that split second. it's a fine line between the decision he took, and he's made a mistake. the bigger picture then is to help the frechie wins the world cup, not let a jibe overtake your emotion.

the end justify the means.Originally posted by BillyBong:My question is: why is there a need to even say such things? What's the player's motive? To provoke a response? What will that lead to? Why can't a game be played for what it is instead of hurling abuse and profanities?
It's a question of winning fairly and with pride, instead of seeking any and all means, even if destardly, to win games.Originally posted by sgheartland:the end justify the means.
Diana Ser's 'Get Real', is really colloquialism for seeking the cold hard truths.Originally posted by weiqimun:as diana ser says, `get real'
