MAN UTD made an official approach for Jermain Defoe

MANCHESTER UNITED have made an official approach to Spurs for £15million striker Jermain Defoe - after last night selling Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid.
The Dutchman, a £12m capture for the Spanish giants, has signed a threeyear deal worth £90,000-a-week.
United had agreed a similar fee with German champions Bayern Munich but new Real boss Fabio Capello proved a massive draw for the Champions League record scorer as he again links up with his ex-Old Trafford team-mate David Beckham. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is facing stiff competition from Newcastle to replace Van Nistelrooy with Defoe (right).
Toon boss Glenn Roeder is desperate to solve the club's striker crisis by taking Defoe to St James' Park.
But Ferguson - despite boasting Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and rising star Giuseppe Rossi - is under pressure to reinforce his attack.
United, who can offer Defoe Champions League football, are in a far stronger position to lure the marksman than Newcastle.
Ferguson is a known admirer of Defoe, having tracked the youngster ever since his time at West Ham.
Should be a good buy at 15M. Hardworking, young, fast and skillful with shooting.

Maybe it will be better for him to go to a new club. Cos currently he seems like just because he is an "old bird" at the club, he should have special treatment from the rest. He feels that he should always be in the first team can and if he is drop to the bench, he gets angry and refuse to put any effort in training. This also happened in the recent WC with Holland. In the end, Van Basten the manager lost confident in him too. Maybe at a new club where he is a new boy, he won't have so much demands.
Anyway Defoe is good also, and younger too. -
If Man U spend 15 million on Defoe, I will laugh at them. He's not even good enough to start in Tottenham. And now they expect him to be good enough to be worth 15 million for Man U?

SAF needs to build a team, now buy fantastic individuals..
Defoe partnering Ronney will be great to watch, as both are fast and aggressive going forward, with the kinda never say die attitude.
However, I would still rather SAF bid 30M for Torres! -

He's exactly the same type of player as Ruud.
Not too sure whether he'll have any impact though.
I'd prefer Torres.

Defoe coming is good as he got speed and can score goals...if can get another striker like Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Luca Toni to have aerial threat since Van is going...

Well Man U finished last in champs league group and out of Europe in December.. winner of a cup competition which no one bothers. If they cannot finish second , something must be wrong with them. I tink Ferguson is going to struggle to get pple in. Man U to be out of top 4 in the coming season? I find them did very well to finsih 2nd given the problem they have. look at the midfield line up... sacking of keane, smith played out positon , heinze n scholes injured. giggs too old. RVN kp with SAF. All this happen n they finish 2nd. If Man U is a sinking ship, the other teams? Sunken ships? Seriously what the f*ck you talking about? Man U sinking ship and Tottenham rising submarine? In comparison, at least Man U was in the Champions league not Tottenham. Furthermore, this coming season, guess what? Poor Rising Submarine almost tasted Champions league football.. To stay at Tottenham or join Man U?
