Admist all the cheating, accusations, diving and mudslinging in the recent world cup, I think I and many would like a reminder as to how great this game can be.
So I'm rather glad I found this vid on youtube (10mins yay) of the king, Pele himself; see him score from any type of situation, run rings around defenders, try his best to stay up on his feet (as opposed to diving) while riding tackles and also some of the most ridiculous shaolin soccer like tackles he has had to endure. it seems like pele's strength was his speed..burst of pace...trickery...good shooting..
but the defenders in the video look like clowns...would pele come up against the best defenders in the world today?
something to add...that time argentina don't know play with who...there was a banner that said something very very interesting...

hmm, Maradona god? Hand of God you mean? But yeah, kudos to Maradona, I've seen a vid of him on Starhub WC contest and was very impressed, I voted for him in that one! But anyway I still prefer Pele, to each his own!
Anyway, conditions of players, balls, shoes, rules (eg. backpassing to goalie and goalie can pick it up) back then all very different la. How to guarantee even the best of TODAY can cope with the conditions of yester-year?

Both Pele and Maradona are geniuses in their own right and their own era. But why PELE is so revered until today not only as a footballer but as a person is that he portrays himself in public better and has a much healthier image than Maradona.
Maradona, a genius on the field but a total failure off it.
