No love for local football

  singapore sports council give priority on the usage of our national sports stadium to other event over sports competition. what do u thnk?

  The only good Spore national players for my era are the times when Abbas Saad and Alistair Edwards are around although later they skip town before being charged with match fixing

  I only know Fandi, David Lee, Steven Lim, Sundramoothy, Lim Tong Hai, Noh Alam Shah.

  I have lost my love for local football after this newer batch of players looks to be not motivated to play for the pride of singapore.The better period of Fandi,Sundramoothy has gone by and from that my love for local football has died with it.

  Fandi is a bit overated, I felt that Sundramoothy is better if he dun have such a bad temper.I read somewhere that Sundramoothy went to europe(I think its Holland) for a while and impressed those ang mos with his skills.He also nearly got mistaken for blangadesh illegal worker when he arrived

  early 90s many love football, but after the truth about bribes, match fixing is revealed, soccer seems "dead" in singapore.
  
  later in the 90s, they come up with S-league trying to bring back the soccer fever. Singapore Celeb "Qian Han Qun"(wonder if you guys remember this SBC star) also took part in this project. But after a while, the audience are gone, only few ppl go watch S-league in the stadiums. One of the team, i think it was Jurong, had difficulties to pay the salary of the players.
  
  So the govt help again, they come up with legal betting, so that even you dont really love singapore soccer, at least you go watch for the sake of betting. Somehow it helps, but still failed to bring back the soccer fever.

  i know what you mean. But when it comes to soccer idol, they need someone not only with skills. They need to make him a soccer celeb, who play with good skill, also have healthy image, have good charater, set good examples for youngster to follow, etc.
  
  i am not a racist, and i am not saying most ppl was. But i think the mangement and the fans would prefer to have a malay/chinese idol, than to have an indian idol. So they make Fandi the idol.
