  i kept wondering why pekerman didn't take rodriquez off becuase he didn't seem to do much during the entire match, and fwah out of nowhere, a goal good enough to win any game.

  mexico gave a real good account of themselves.they played with alot of pride and hardwork, but just lacking that bit of quality as shown by the winner.

  quite shock to see this result cos expected the argentines to win at least 3 goals... but good work for mex to give the argentines a run for the $$$.... too bad they no more campos...

  if u do a search u will find that Argentina have never beaten Mexico with more than 1 goal since 2000 and last 2 matches(last year) they met ended 1:1.

  Ah well... it was a highly entertaining match. I'm sure the match against Germany in the quarter final ought to be one massive slugfest.

  mexico have never really performed in the world cup. their quest normally ends at exactly this stage, the 2nd round.
  
  frankly argentina played badly. i gave up watching after 60 minutes. they looked totally different from the one that won the group.

  I think Crespo's goal shouldn't be credited to him. In television replays, it was a clear own goal by a Mexican player. Crespo didn't even have a touch on it.
  
  Any chance that Fifa might change the status of the goal to an own goal?

  Actually, Mexico is one of the team best known for keeping possession at the opposition half.

  The silver goal rule has been in effect since the last world cup to encourage attacking soccer. Golden goal simply nullified the game-play of both sides since neither were prepared to come out of their shell, fearful of conceding the goal that might end their dreams.
  
  Given the silver goal rule, one can still attack, and if they concede a goal can still go in search for an equalizer up to half time.
