Just take table tennis, countries like USA, Australia, UK plus Singapore are heavily relying on players from PRC.

come to think of it...the only different b'tween our national team and chelski is club and country status, as well as where the money paid to the players come frm...one frm us, one frm his business... -
it all boils down to the development system in place. if we dun have a good development system of grooming young players, then we have no choice of `importing' players. sg is a case in point. our nsa's are so incompetant tht the only viable way getting success is buying success. what i find distasteful is they all make it into a damn big deal when sg wins. still, this depends on ctries and sports. for e.g., i dun think ingerland will take in a naturalized brazilian in their squad. too proud. even appointing non-english manager alredi got problem. but in other sports, they may be less opinionated.
back to the topic, i dun think they are so dispicable that u can be `anti-ingelish'. u dun hv to like them and that shld be it. i dun lk ingerland, but i wan to see liverpool players do well regardless.
i dun want them to win the wc but if they do and crouch scored a stunning winner; dribbling past 4 players, escape a sliding tackle from the 5th, then rounded the golkeeper before flicking it into the empty net on the 89th minute after hobbling for the last 20min due to horrific tackle, well, i will be happy for ingerland. -

The thing is majority of people wants to read about them. We are in an english speaking country like sg and we follow the premier league at least most of us... Fifa didn't give just england time to replace a player, it has nothing to do with rooney, It gave every team till the last day to replace an injure player due to training or otherwise... Spain replace Asier Del Horno 2 days before the games started.
Like i said, If you were a spainish reader, you would be reading, hearing & seeing the spainish team much more its just that we don't read spainish so the interest there is handicap where language is concern.

Apart from holland who never won the world cup but have won the European Cup, france, italy, germany and england have done so. So how is their situation almost like? Spain has never won anything yet till now, maybe it might change this time. -

I agree and i also think lanpard should be drop in place of carrick. Gerrard should be playing in lampards current position, should be better cos lampard is selfish, he don't pass the ball to owen or rooney, he likes to try shots himself even if the strikers are in a better position than him. Owen today complaint that he is not getting the service of his midfielders. wat i meant abt wat u didn't understand is dat in european or international competitions, usually these r the bigs teams dat ppl arnd have hopes for them winning the competition. not abt their history... -
