Singapore ref for T&T's World Cup debut

A referee from Singapore will officiate when the Trinidad and Tobago Soca Warriors take to the field in their first game against Sweden at the 2006 World Cup in Dortmund, Germany on June 10.
Shamsul Maidin of Singapore will carry the whistle for T&T's debut game.
Prachya Permpanich from Thailand and Eisa Ghuloum of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will serve as assistant referees for the match, while Oscar Ruiz from Colombia and Fernando Tamayo of Ecuador have been named the fourth and fifth officials, respectively. -

This should be easy to officiate...
Just keep blowing the whistle for physical play, stop play, call back play, disallow advantage, give a free kick to every tackle and randomly blow for the slightest offside.
That will certainly give us a reputation for being a lawful bunch! -

the referee did a good job.
he sent a trinidad player off.
why did sweden field allback? he is a horrible finisher. if i remember correctly he failed miserably at the last world cup.
yesterday he missed a lot of chances again.
sweden have no luck. a disappointing results considering the number of chances they had!!! -

And Shamsul sure did a far better job than the Mexican referee in the England match. I felt that the Mexican was biased against England and seemed to get pleasure out of tormenting Peter Crouch.
The second yellow card leading to the red card that Shamsul dished out was reasonable by any standard. The T&T guy had used a two-footed lunge at the legs of another player. That's a minimum yellow card for sure. -
First red card of the tournament handed out by a Singaporean!!! How befitting for our reputation. I didn't watch the match but from what I've gleaned from the BBC commentary, Avery John ought to have been sent off in the first half for a slew of bad tackles.

anders svensson is a even more horrible fielding
allback could've finished the jonson chance if jonson didn't square the ball too far ahead of allback
