Starhub charging for World Cup coverage

I'm not paying that $15.75. It's a matter of principle. It's a monopoly for cable TV in S'pore, so they can do all they want. Just imagine the money they earn?!? This resembles our govt.
Any bros got any other alternatives? RTM is possible but gotta buy an antennae and furthermore, the England-Paraguay match is not featured.
Coffeeshops? Do they open at 3 am?

Will channel 22, 23 and 24 show it? Checked the starhub website but the schedule listed goes only as far as 8 Jun (a day before the world cup). Very smart.

Starhub customers with sports group have to pay $15.75 to watch WC.
Starhub custormers without sports group have to pay $26.25.
They are out to eat away our money!!!

this is the mentality of businesses in sg, they not only want to profit, they are looking to exploit. i don't have sports channel since they up the price so the $26 is not so sore to me, i should be paying for it, afterall it's only for the month. i can wean off the regular games but world cup is once ever 4 years, so what the hell.
for the principled lot, may i suggest you watch rtm channels, they are showing almost all games. to get the reception i think you'll need to connect the tv cable directly to the tv socket by-passing the scv box. rtm was free to begin with, scv are just bloodsuckers. -
aiyah, can also DL from net to watch...want to watch how many time the goal is scored oso can...ahahha.

So, buy a copy to check out the spot nearest to your home.
Or, you can tune in to RTM TV1 for world cup coverage. -

i dun think so they will lose out if u did not sign up. so what 4 waste ur $$ by heading down to macs or coffee shop just to watch matches. -

But if PAP decides to up the water conservation tax 6 months later (an example), you are one of those who don't mind paying right? Cos the rationale will be "How much can they earn from me?"

Nah... The price of sugar had already increase alot, but wad can we do if we need the resource to earn a living? It's precisely because of this "live and let live" mentally that most Singaporeans have lost the will to protest against anything at all.

We used to be at the mercy of Singtel (formerly Singapore Telecom), then M1 came in (what a breath of fresh air!) and then Starhub (which temasek has a stake in). With 2 major players under the govt, the presence of M1 may make market forces redundant.
And then a few years back, Starhub started holding all the rights to CableTV. Under a monopoly, we are being manipulated by the swirl of a finger.
