well...they did pay over 20 plus million for a winger and dump him on the bench...Originally posted by stellazio:Shevchenko will leave Milan - but at a price
AC Milan have accepted Andriy Shevchenko's transfer request but have warned Chelsea they must break the bank to land the Ukraine striker.
Shevchenko, 29, appeared alongside the Italian club's vice-president Adriano Galliani at their offices in Via Turati in downtown Milan at a hastily arranged press conference to announce his decision this afternoon.
Shevchenko said: 'I am leaving for family reasons - I want to thank the club for everything it's given to me.
'There's no problems regarding my relationship with anyone in the club or any financial problems.'
Galliani, in day-to-day control of the club owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, said: 'It's a victory of the English language over the Italian language.'
That was apparently a reference to Shevchenko's American wife who reportedly wants a move to England.
'I've tried to convince him to stay - even one minute prior to the press conference,' continued Galliani.
'This is certainly the most painful divorce since I have been at Milan and from now on we will begin negotiations with Chelsea and it will not be easy.'
Shevchenko's goals helped Milan stay in the race for the Scudetto in the recently-completed season - they ultimately finished second behind Juventus - but was reportedly at odds with his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, on several occasions.
Chelsea, who also signed Germany captain Michael Ballack earlier in May, have been linked with the striker ever since the acquisition of the club by Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
Milan signed Shevchenko to a contract extension last year, which tied him to the Rossoneri until June 2009, after speculation Chelsea were about to make an approach.
Shevchenko, who will captain Ukraine at the World Cup this summer in Germany, turns 30 in September.
He joined Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 1999.
there seems to be double standards when dealing with chelsea, every team will hold chelsea to ransom over a player..
if it was some other team, i think man city will only ask for 10m..thats the way it is la, clubs know they can get more from chelsea, of course they will do itm who doesn't want more money?Originally posted by R3SsH|n:well...they did pay over 20 plus million for a winger and dump him on the bench...![]()

dont be sour grapes.Originally posted by Poolman:One thing good about this Roman fella , he knew exactly that he'll not be bringing the money along with him when he die , so what he do with the money ? Spent it lor !
As long as he live , he'll live with pride of winning .
After he die , people will remember Chelsea being a team pampered by this Russian's wealth , not a team remembered as a Real Winner .

a winner is a winner!!! chelsea are a good team. only those who are jealous will ignore this fact and keep picking on the money issue!!
what is the point of comparing chelsea to other teams and sports? they are different issues.Originally posted by the Bear:well, i ask you.. winning by spending about a GBP500 million on transfer fees alone in the past 2 years and having a wage bill which is about 120% of the revenue is good for the club?
nevermind.. that's just money...
there are different shades of "winning".. and if winning is everything to you, how very machiavellian huh?
Juve won too
so did that Korean boxer in the olympics who got pummelled by the US boxer...
winning is winning?
even when everyone pui chao nua at the way it was done?
oh well... if you believe so.. take pride in it... coz even the true chelsea fans are starting to question their club's ways now.. (hangers-on and fair-weather fans who seek "glory" need not apply)
deep down inside you are actually very worried that chelsea will eventually win the CL.Originally posted by Poolman:Desperado is in the face of the Russian Mafia , desperate for The European Cup .
How to get it ? Buy it !
One Ukrainian willing to pay another Ukrainian , why worry ?
It doesn't worry us Liverpool Fc and Liverpool fans as far as we are concerned , we'll have our own way to deal with Shevchenko as what we have dealt with him in Istanbul .
It's ourself that we're worried about .
how is it killing the game? sheva's skill and finishing will add excitement to the EPL!!!Originally posted by Maurince:Haiz!! Another sad day for the soccer fans.. Money is killing the beautiful game..
