a good captain isnt necessairly someone who plays well or is passionate. he must be able to keep the team together and motivate them.

John Terry - Chelsea captain

Agree that Beck should step down to let someone be the captain.
England must change it style of play, 4-4-2 is to predictable. All team know how they play, and they dun have a permanent DM which I think Stevie should fill it. They have good wing play, but their def need to be stronger. Must of the Midfielders are attacking minded which is good to help up the forward and I dun miss Wayne if he is not in. Infact most of the goal is score from where? They need a much more stronger leader to lead them to glory. -
So England win the friendly game 3-1. And the Captain got a hand in all the 3 goals.

Will Beckham's critics change their stand if he happens to captain Real Madrid as well? Seeing how much importance people place in club-captaincy. Not gonna happen as long as spoilt-brat-Raul is there, though Beckham has been their best player for years. While the whole team collapses and every player gets stuck in their own little corners, Beckham is the one who organises things and spreads the play all over the pitch. That's captain material to me.
In this current squad, no player comes close to Beckham in overall contribution. Nobody has single handedly rescued England as many time as Beckham. Nobody works anywhere near as hard as Beckham. England has improved significantly since Beckham took over the captaincy.
He is the model professional who stays back after trainings to work on his free kicks. He's never been caught drinking and making a fool of himself, never been caught in a bar brawl. What else can you ask for? -

SG is my vote.
Cause he does all by his ability. He can score no doubt, but what about the tackles at the back that releases others to attack. To me, he is one of the true gems.
And I would even say, if SG is to succeed at international level, maybe FL needs to be sacrified. But OwenH there and let SG just run.
I believe England will have more bite and more dimensions.
As we have seen, OwenH also can attack and defend, and he does it well.
FL can attack but his defending suspect. And when he doesn't score, he is a liability.
John Terry is a leader too but I believe England defence is doing fine, and more needs to be done upfront than down below. -

would prefer SG as his infleunce , work rate , are much more higher than JT , also , apparently , whenever SG came on as a substitute for the Kops , we can see the impact . I go for SG. JT is a good player but he doesnt inspire his fellow players enuff. Thats the feeling he give me.
