This is also why they say that your Aspiration for the Pureland must be stronger than your (negative) Karma. If your Aspiration is very, very strong, even if there are innate tendencies of clinging, you can still overcome them sufficiently in the last moments.

I also think sufficient discernment is also necessary while we are living. What sort of discernment? The discernment that basically this body and this mundane world is not worth clinging onto. Also, the discernment that because everything is ultimately transient, that we have had myriad family members in myriad rebirths, we have enjoyed many pleasures and displeasures in myriad lifetimes, etc. With such discernment about the unsatisfactory nature of Samsara, hopefully, it becomes easier to willingly move on to the Pureland after our last breath.

Yes, you are right. I understand that we have to practice let go of this samsara everyday or else we are unable to do it at our last breath.
