SINGAPORE : Nine kidnap scams were reported to the police on Friday.
This brings the total number of such scams reported in the past three days to 21.
Police say none of the cases were true.
The people who received such calls managed to contact the so—called "kidnapped" victim, and avoided getting scammed.
Callers will normally threaten to harm the supposed victim, if money is not paid up.
Sometimes, calls of help can be heard in the background.
Police say that if members of the public receive such calls, they should contact their loved one immediately. If their loved on is uncontactable, they should call the police.
They should also pose questions to the kidnapper to verify the identity of the supposed victim. — CNA/ms
