This is a question that is pondering in my mind for a while. My dad said when we were packing things for holiday in Malaysia that I can't bring in my laptop into Malaysia. I was curious about this and went on to search for this and i found this site that made me even more confused.

As you carefully, the list of goods prohibited from importation unless having a license shows nothing regarding laptops but however, it states ,'' Electrical apparatus for domestic use such as Hi-Fi sets, electric smoothing irons, food mixers, hair dryers, rice cookers, televisions, electric kettles, etc. ''
What does it mean? Does it mean i can't bring in my laptop or my PSP into Malaysia? Please help me clear up my doubt before i set on the road for Malaysia tomorrow. Thanks.
call up Malaysian High Commission and ask
i never knew such a rule? btw, i carry back and forth my laptop to KL, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak
why not.. i always bring them oversea..
not a problem at all.
why cannot?
I haven't got any problem so far.
i'm not too sure but i think its prohibted because there is no standard main voltage throughout the world and it can be dangerous if u were to plug in your laptop using a different voltage. Maybe your electrical appliances are designed to cater to singapore's main voltage of 230volts whereas malaysia is 240volts.. The power socket may also be different looking.
-random guess.
It doesnt matter. look at the converter of your lappy. They normally accept a range of voltage and usually that range is rather big. That is definitly not a cause for concern.
